Crystal Palace: 23/24 Season Review

It's time to explore Crystal Palace's 2023/2024 season. It marked Crystal Palace's 118th season and their eleventh consecutive campaign in the Premier League. They also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. It was the first season since 2013–14 without Wilfried Zaha, who departed for Turkish club Galatasaray in the summer, and Scottish midfielder James McArthur, who retired. As a result, Joel Ward was appointed club captain at the beginning of the season, replacing the departed Luka Milivojević. Despite being 15th and just 5 points above the relegation zone in mid-February, the appointment of Oliver Glasner revived the team's fortunes, and a strong finish saw the Eagles equal their highest league finish in the Premier League era.  2023/2024 was another historic campaign for Brighton & Hove Albion. Let's explore what happened. This was the 122nd season in the history of Brighton & Hove Albion and their seventh consecutive season in the Premier League.  They also competed in the Premier League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and a debut appearance in UEFA Europa League.  Some of the match reports from their campaign. On August 12th, they welcomed Luton Town for the opening game of the seaso n, marking the Hatters' debut in the Premier League. Albion emerged victorious with a 4–1 win. Bournemouth: 23/24 Season Review

 It's time for another season review. This time, we're going down to the South Coast. The 23/24 campaign was Bournemouth's seventh season in the top flight and their second since their most recent promotion.  They finished 12th in the Premier League, performing arguably above expectations. The club reached the fifth round of the FA Cup and the fourth round of the  Star player of the campaign Dominic Solanke impressed everyone. He scored 21 goals in all competitions with rumours now starting that some of the Premier League's biggest clubs are interested in signing him.  A closer look at their match reports and stories from the season. In September, they drew 0-0 against Chelsea. Despite conceding a lot of chances, Bournemouth defended well and displayed the tenacity that would serve them well throughout the season. Fulham: 23/24 Season Review

Let's explore Fulham's 2023/2024 season. This was their second consecutive season in the Premier League since returning to England's top flight. They finished the season in 13th position. In addition, they reached the semi-finals of the EFL Cup but were knocked out in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Some match reports from their season. In August, they earned a hard-fought point against Arsenal at The Emirates. This was achieved thanks to Joao Palhinha. His first-time finish from a corner in the 87th minute earned the away side this draw. Jamie was in the away end and was impressed by elements of his side's performance on that day: "Unfortunately we didn't win, but I think most Fulham fans would say that this is a good result. It is often really difficult to play against Arsenal away from home. We displayed a lot of character after going 2-1 down."  Let's explore Barcelona's 2023/2024 campaign In addition to La Liga, Barca also took part in the Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, and UEFA Champions League. Throughout the season, Barcelona played their home matches at the Estadi Olímpic due to the redevelopment of the Nou Camp. This season was notable as the first without captain Sergio Busquets, who departed the club after 18 years (including 15 years in the first team since the 2007–08 season) as a free agent in the summer. It was also the first full season without Gerard Piqué, who retired before the winter World Cup, and the first since 2011–12 without left-back Jordi Alba, who mutually agreed to terminate his contract a year early.  Let's explore how Wolves got on during their 2023/2024 campaign  It was the 146th season in the history of the club and their sixth consecutive season in the Premier League since they were promoted in 2018.  Before the season, they parted company with Julen Lopetegui by mutual agreement. Only a day later, the former Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil was appointed head coach on a three-year deal.  The 2023/2024 season will probably go down as one of the most iconic in the Bundesliga's history. The season began on 18 August 2023 and concluded on 18 May 2024.  On 14 April 2024, Bayer Leverkusen were crowned champions for the first time with five matches to spare following a 5–0 win over Werder Bremen.  Theyy would go onto become the first Bundesliga team in history to finish a season unbeaten, ending the campaign with a record of 28 wins and six draws. They would also go onto win the German Cup and reach the Europa League final. It was in that Europa League final match where they lost their only game of the season.  It was a dramatic 2023/2024 season at Goodison Park The campaign marked Everton's 145th year and their 70th consecutive season in the top tier of English football. They also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On 17 November, they were handed a ten-point deduction from their Premier League tally for violating the league's profit and sustainability rules, the largest points deduction in Premier League history. The club appealed the decision, with the appeal scheduled for March 2024.  On 15 January, they were found to have committed another breach of the same rules, prompting an ongoing investigation. On 26 February, the initial ten-point deduction was reduced to six points following the appeal board's decision. On 8 April, the club were again found guilty of a second breach of the profit and sustainability rules, resulting in a further two-point deduction, pending appeal. It's time to explore Brentford's 2023/2024 campaign  This was the 134th season in the history of the club and their third consecutive season in the Premier League.  In addition to the domestic league, they also participated in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Brentford finished 16th in the Premier League, something that would have disappointed their fans having challenged for Europe in the previous campaign. They were also knocked out in the 3rd round of the two domestic cups.  Nottingham Forest finished the 2023/2024 season in 17th position. Let's explore their campaign. They successfully avoided relegation to the Championship. This was the 158th season in their history and the second consecutive season in the Premier League. The club also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On 15 January 2024, the Premier League charged Nottingham Forest with breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules. By 18 March, Forest were found guilty and handed a four-point deduction. The club appealed the decision on 26 March, but on 7 May, it was announced that their appeal had failed, and the four-point deduction was upheld.  We are now going to explore Luton Town's 2023/2024 season.  The 2023–24 season was the 138th season in the history of Luton Town and their first-ever season in the Premier League.  It was also the club's first return to the top flight of English football since the 1991–92 season. Despite a decent effort throughout the season, Luton were relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season following a 4–2 home loss to Fulham. Ultimately, the damage had been done in the weeks leading up to the last match of their league campaign.  A look at some of the key moments from their season In August, they lost to a seemingly disjointed Chelsea side 3-0.  We are going to explore Burnley's 2023/2024 season. This was the 142nd season in the history of Burnley Football Club and their first season back in the Premier League since the 2021–22 campaign, following promotion from the EFL Championship in the previous season.  They also participated in the FA Cup and EFL Cup. After losing 2–1 at home to West Ham United on 25 November 2023, Burnley became the second team in English league history (after Newport County in 1970–71) to lose their first seven home matches of the season. The streak was then ended the following game when they beat Sheffield United 5–0. On 11 May 2024, they were officially relegated from the Premier League following a 2–1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur. They finished the season in 19th position.  Their form in the cup competitions wasn't much better.  It's time to explore the season of each Premier League club. We will start  off  at the bottom with Sheffield United. The 2023–24 season marked the 135th year in Sheffield United’s history and their return to the Premier League after being promoted from the Championship last season. Alongside their league campaign, the club also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On 24 April, they suffered a 4–2 defeat to Manchester United, setting a new record for the most goals conceded in a 38-game Premier League season, surpassing the previous record held by Derby County in the 2007–08 season. Just three days later, a 5–1 loss away to Newcastle United confirmed their relegation back to the Championship. This result left the Blades with 16 points, trailing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest by 10 points, with only three matches left to play. On 4 May, The Blades matched Swindon Town's record for the most goals conceded in a Premier League season (100 goals) following a 3–1 home defeat
