PL reaction: Brentford 2 - 1 Watford

Image
Let's have a look at all the reactions as Brentford scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to come from behind and deny Watford victory at the Community Stadium. Bryan Mbeumo slotted in a stoppage-time penalty to make it 2-1, minutes after captain Pontus Jansson had equalised with a header at the back post. Watford had been in the lead for an hour thanks to a header from Emmanuel Dennis.. A late surge from Brentford was eventually rewarded. The defeat means Watford remain just three points above the relegation zone. One Watford fan told us: "I am so annoyed, we were playing so well but we decided to sit back and that cost us in the end." More reaction Brentford's first goalscorer Pontus Jansson told Sky Sports: "It's not a good performance but we fought hard, we didn't give away a lot of chances so maybe a draw was a fair result, but we've been unlucky in the season and maybe luck was with us tonight." The Brentford matchwinner Bryan Mbeumo

UCL: Barcelona knocked out and Benfica qualify

Image
It was a dramatic night in Champions League group E as Barcelona were knocked out and Bayern Munich finished with a 100% record. Benfica will join Bayern in the next round after they beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0. Despite only having 36% possession, it was a fairly comfortable win that was secured by goals from Yaremchuk and Junior. You can watch the highlights in the video below. One Benfica fan told us: "I would have been happy with 3rd place and getting into the Europa League but I am very happy that we are staying in the Champions League." A horror night for Barcelona Barcelona lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich to miss out on the Champions League knockout stages for the first time in 17 years. They have not been absent from the last 16 since 2003-04. It was a terrible night for the club. They never really looked like troubling Bayern and the home side ran away comfortable winners. The draw for the Europa League takes place on Monday at 12:00 GMT in Nyon, Switzerland and Barca will p

UCL: Manchester United 1 - 1 Young Boys

Image
Manchester United signed off their Champions League group stage campaign with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Young Boys With qualification already secured, Ralf Rangnick took the game as an opportunity to see more of his players in action. He made 11 changes from the United team that started his first match against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. United took the lead with a superb strike from Mason Greenwood after just eight minutes.Young Boys then equalised late in the first half. Given the changes, this was probably a decent draw for United and the Reds can now look ahead to who they face in the next round. More reaction from Old Trafford The United interim boss told the club's website: “We shouldn’t be too strict. I was fully aware with this formation and line-up, the players haven’t played together like this. I think the first half-hour was okay, we scored a beautiful goal, we had another two great opportunities. Juan Mata should have scored actually and the same w

UCL: AC Milan 1 - 2 Liverpool

Image
Liverpool became the first English side to win six Champions League group games as they picked up a victory over AC Milan in Italy. Jurgen Klopp made several changes with qualification for the last 16 already assured as group winners. However, the Serie A leaders went in search of the win they hoped would secure their own passage into the last 16. Milan's hopes rose on the half-hour when Takumi Minamino missed a near-post corner and goalkeeper Alisson could only push the ball out to Fikayo Tomori, who then scored from close range. Despite all the changes, Mohamed Salah was stikl in the starting line-up and once again demonstrated his ability with an equaliser that came seven minutes later. He put home the rebound after Milan keeper Mike Maignan saved from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. It means Salah has became the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush to score 20 goals in five successive seasons. The away side continued to dominate and Divock Origi scored his first goal in the competi

David Moyes is facing a crisis after losing both of his first-choice centre-backs to injury. Zouma is set for a spell on the sidelines after damaging his hamstring. It has also been announced that Angelo Ogbonna is out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury during West Ham’s win over Liverpool last month. The former Chelsea defender Zouma expected to be out for six to 12 weeks. Craig Dawson and Issa Diop are currently the only fit centre-backs in West Ham’s squad. Will David Moyes look to strengthen his squad in the upcoming January transfer window? They have been linked with a move for Burnley's James Tarkowski.  A West Ham statement reads: "West Ham United can confirm that Kurt Zouma sustained a hamstring tendon injury during Saturday’s Premier League victory against Chelsea. FA Cup: Kidderminster Harriers 2 - 0 FC Halifax Town

Image
Kidderminster Harriers are dreaming of more giant-killing exploits after upsetting FC Halifax at Aggborough to reach the third round of the FA Cup. Kidderminster got as far as the fourth round in 2014 before losing to Sunderland and in 2004 they took Wolves to a replay in round three before being knocked out of the competition,  Their best FA Cup run came in 1994 when they defeated Birmingham City and Preston as they reached round five, they went down 1-0 at home to West Ham. Some reactions from the match Halifax counterpart Pete Wild was critical of his side's display. He told the BBC:"I'm frustrated because it's them wanting it more than us that's won it for them," he said. "We can't be disappointed because we didn't threaten their goalkeeper." "We didn't stand up to the test. It was a big game in the second round of the FA Cup and we didn't stand up. It's one of the worst first halves since I've been at the footba

PL: Manchester United 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

Image
Manchester United made a winning start to life under interim boss Ralf Rangnick thanks to Fred's 77th-minute winner. A more energetic United display looked like going unrewarded against a dogged Crystal Palace outfit until Fred struck first-time from Mason Greenwood's lay-off to send a superb 20-yard effort curling over Vicente Guaita and into the top corner. It was only Fred's second goal of the season - and the first time since the middle of September that United have recorded back-to-back league wins. Until the Brazilian's effort, Rangnick's side created numerous decent chances, without really looking as though they were going to score and Guaita would probably have saved an Alex Telles free-kick that skimmed the bar had it been on target. More reaction This reaction from the Manchester United number one probably summed up the reaction from everyone associated with the club.
