FA Cup: Liverpool win second trophy of the season

Image
Chelsea 0 - 0 Liverpool (Liverpool win 6-5 on penalties) Liverpool won their second trophy of the season and they keep their quadruple dream alive After a tense 120 minutes, Liverpool triumphed on penalties. They have won the FA Cup for the first time since 2006.  Before the drama of the penalties, it was a close fairly close game for the majority, even if Liverpool did have more shots. Chelsea did have their moments.  Both sides struggled to find that finishing touch and it finished 0-0. In the end, it was won on penalties.  Liverpool quickly gained the advantage in the shootout after César Azpilicueta hit the post with the second Blues spot-kick. Sadio Mané then wasted the chance to win it earlier with a weak fifth kick. Mason Mount then missed Chelsea’s seventh kick, allowing Tsimikas to slide in the winner. Premier League: Watford hold Everton

Image
Watford 0-0 Everton A much-changed Watford side earned a 0-0 draw against Everton. In a poor game, Chances were few and far between for both teams throughout. Samuel Kalu and Moussa Sissoko were among those most likely to break the deadlock in yellow. A point against the Toffees marks the end of an 11-game losing streak at home for Watford, who have already been relegated to the Championship. Due to several injuries, manager Roy Hodgson was forced to make several changes to the starting eleven that had lined up at Crystal Palace last time out. Three academy scholars were named on the bench for their first taste of Premier League action. Everton, who still need every point they can get to help their bid for survival, named their strongest possible team. In terms of the action, Michael Keane was fortunate that his miskick around the edge of the Everton danger area bobbled safely to goalkeeper Jordan Pickford a minute later, and then Kalu again posed a threat but just couldn’t quite

They are on the verge of another Premier League title, but Manchester City are already planning for next season. It has been announced that Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Norway striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Haaland will join in July after City activated a 60m euro (£51.2m) release clause in his contract. ---- Will he be worth money? Take a look at his best Bundesliga goals ---- The deal ends the club's hunt for a successor to their all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero. Haaland, who passed his City medical in Belgium on Monday, has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. Even though City are within touching distance of a second successive Premier League title achieved without an orthodox centre-forward, Guardiola has always stressed his desire to have one. City tried hard to get Harry Kane from Premier League rivals Tottenham last summer but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy stood firm and re

Premier Leagye news: Rio Ferdinand criticises Ralf Rangnick

Image
The latest from Old Trafford Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has criticised interim manager Ralf Rangnick for 'airing the club's dirty laundry in public.  The current BT Sport pundit has also claimed that he should no longer be allowed to address the media. Rangnick has frequently been outspoken in press conferences and has criticised United's recruitment, while he has also hit out at the team's defending and athleticism.  He has one game left in charge of United before continuing as a consultant for the club for the next two years.  This is honestly the most damning quote from Rangnick about United so far... 🤦🏼‍♂️ Unbelievable 😨😨 pic.twitter.com/nA1dzNh2AT — Joe Thomlinson (@joethomlinson) May 7, 2022 Ferdinand said on his YouTube show : "I don’t agree with the way that he’s airing the dirty laundry in public while he’s still in the hotseat, while he’s still in there. "It’s nice sometimes for fans, you want to get a bit of insight, bu

EFL: Bristol Rovers win promotion after dramatic final day

Image
Bristol Rovers 7 - 0 Scunthorpe Bristol Rovers pulled off a remarkable 7-0 win over Scunthorpe to seal promotion back to League One. On a day of drama, the basic task ahead for Bristol Rovers was to get a better result than Northampton, who were away at Barrow. Very few thought it would come like this. This is what happened. This is a slightly altered and condensed version of the report that's available on the Bristol Rovers website. Read that here.  Aaron Collins was the first to threaten but went to ground a little easily in the area and referee Breakspear waved away his protests, before first Sam Finley and then Trevor Clarke let fly with long-range efforts, both of which were off target. It was one-way Gas traffic for the first 10 minutes, but without a shot on target to trouble the 17-year-old Iron goalkeeper Watson. A promising move in the 14th minute was curtailed by the offside flag as Luke Thomas played a neat one-two with Sam Finlay, captaining the side in the absence

Aymeric Laporte added a second before half-time after Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka fumbled Ilkay Gundogan's volley and Rodri made sure of the victory with a near-post header from Kevin de Bruyne's corner just after the hour mark. Phil Foden struck in
