Bournemouth: 23/24 Season Review

It's time for another season review. This time, we're going down to the South Coast.

The 23/24 campaign was Bournemouth's seventh season in the top flight and their second since their most recent promotion.

Bournemouth: 23/24 Season Review

They finished 12th in the Premier League, performing arguably above expectations. The club reached the fifth round of the FA Cup and the fourth round of the

Star player of the campaign

Dominic Solanke impressed everyone. He scored 21 goals in all competitions with rumours now starting that some of the Premier League's biggest clubs are interested in signing him.

A closer look at their match reports and stories from the season.

In September, they drew 0-0 against Chelsea. Despite conceding a lot of chances, Bournemouth defended well and displayed the tenacity that would serve them well throughout the season.

In November, Solanke scored twice against Newcastle United to give his side a deserved win. You can watch the highlights of this match in the video below. The footage is from the AFC Bournemouth YouTube account.

The following month came their best performance of the season, a 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Dominic Solanke's early strike set the stage for this historic triumph. They secured their first victory at Old Trafford with second-half headers from Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi within five-minutes, marking a memorable milestone in the club's history. Jennie was at this match, saying: "This was the best day of the season. By that stage of the season, we had collected 19 points and were really starting to play well."

In April's return against United, they played well again but could only manage a 2-2 drawAfter this match, we spoke with Adam, a Bournemouth fan. He said: "We had a lot of very good and clear chances. Sometimes Onana saved them, sometimes we did not have the finishing touch. It's just a shame that we could not score more goals. We played well. However, United always finds a way to score goals. When you don't finish against these kinds of teams, they find a way to score and get back into the game."

As the season started to come to an end, and with survival assured, Bournemouth started to switch off. In May, they were comfortably by title challengers Arsenal.

Their season ended with a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea, a match which secured European football for the team from South London. Moises Caicedo hit a stunning 50-yard goal. Raheem Sterling then doubled Chelsea's lead at the start of the second half before Benoit Badiashile could only direct Enes Unal's effort into his own goal as Andoni Iraola's side cut the deficit. This was their third consecutive defeat and was a poor way for Bournemouth to end their season. Ultimately, their fans would have been pleased that they were never in danger of relegation.

After that defeat to Chelsea, Jennie told us: "A poor end to the season but we would have all taken that before the season began. My highlights were those victories over Manchester United and Newcastle United. I am already excited for what the next campaign brings. Could we challenge for the top 7 and maybe qualify for the Conference League. Could we win a trophy? The fans are starting to believe in a bright future for this team.
