Nottingham Forest 7 - 0 Brighton & Hove Albion Chris Wood hit a hat-trick as a ruthless Nottingham Forest scored seven against a woeful Brighton. Author - Kieran M Stadium - City Ground Forest corner against Brighton Nottingham Forest responded in emphatic fashion to last weekend’s humbling at Bournemouth, putting Brighton to the sword in a stunning 7-0 demolition at the City Ground. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side had seen their unbeaten run halted in brutal fashion at the Vitality Stadium, but they bounced back in the best possible way, recording their biggest-ever Premier League victory against a Brighton side that simply had no answer. Forest’s intent was clear from the off, and they were gifted an early lead when Lewis Dunk inadvertently diverted Morgan Gibbs-White’s low cross into his own net with just 12 minutes played . Gibbs-White then turned scorer, glancing a header into the far corner from Anthony Elanga’s pinpoint delivery, before Chris Wood made it 3-0 on the half-...

Celtic begin Scottish Cup defence

Celtic 2 - 1 Kilmarnock Daizen Maeda’s second-half goal ensured Celtic began their defence of the Scottish Cup with a hard-fought win over Premiership rivals Kilmarnock. Author - Sean M The victory preserved Brendan Rodgers' unbeaten record in this competition across his two spells in charge. However, after an early spell of dominance, his league-leading side were pushed to their limits by a spirited Kilmarnock. Celtic signalled their intent from the first whistle. Within 20 seconds, Nicolas Kuhn raced through but took a heavy touch, colliding with goalkeeper Robbie McCrorie, who had to be replaced by Kieran O’Hara. Despite this setback, Kilmarnock came close to opening the scoring. Fraser Murray won and took a free-kick, his curling effort rattling the crossbar. Moments later, Kuhn surged forward and set up Maeda, but the forward couldn’t convert. Wolves 0 - 3 Nottingham Forest Morgan Gibbs-White played a starring role as Nottingham Forest secured a clinical victory over Wolves, with new England manager Thomas Tuchel watching from the stands. Author -  Kieran M   The midfielder silenced the boos from the home crowd early on, scoring the opener just seven minutes in. Gibbs-White, who left Wolves for Forest in 2022, had the perfect response to his former club's jeers. Chris Wood doubled the lead just before half-time, notching his 12th goal of the season, while Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the win in stoppage time, finishing off a swift counter-attack. Wolves, however, had their opportunities. Joao Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen forced saves from Forest keeper Matz Sels, and Larsen was denied by a remarkable goal-line clearance from Murillo. This marked Forest’s 12th league victory of the season—three more than their total for the entire previous campaign. The win showcased the team’s key strengths, with opposition sides cont...

Euro 2024: Scotland battle to earn a point

Image
Scotland 1 - 1 Switzerland Scotland entered this match with one aim: to avoid being sent home with regrets.  A loss in Cologne would have left them needing unlikely help from other groups, even if they managed to beat Hungary in Stuttgart on Sunday. Now, Scotland know a win against Hungary would bring them to a four-point total, likely enough to secure a coveted spot in the tournament knockout stages for the first time. The Scots bounced back admirably from their 5-1 thrashing by Germany. However, as the dust settles on this thrilling encounter, they may felt they deserved more. Just 102 seconds in, John McGinn won Scotland a corner, showing more attacking intent than in their painful loss in Munich on Friday. Scott McTominay took the set-piece, but it was deflected by a defender. Euro 2024 news and stories  Scotland's breakthrough came from a Swiss corner. The Swiss hesitated after taking it short, allowing Scotland to counter. Billy Gilmour, back in the starting lineup, ...
