EFL: Cardiff City get late winner

Image
Cardiff City 1 - 0 Reading Cardiff City's recent mini-revival under new boss Sabri Lamouchi continued thanks to a later winner against Reading. Romaine Sawyers fired in from the edge of the box in the 91st minute to claim a deserved win. This was the club's second in a week under their new manager. A first home win since October lifts the Bluebirds five points clear of the Championship relegation zone. Reading will stay 15th in the table but could have no complaint over the loss despite the timing of the goal. A closer look at the match The closest Reading came was a blunder by Cardiff goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who kicked thin air as Yakou Meite closed in. Cardiff must have thought their luck was out when they hit the crossbar twice in the space of three minutes midway through the second half. But Sawyers capped an impressive display with his first goal since August to claim three vital points in his side's fight for survival. Click here for more EFL News>>> Both

AC Milan 1 - 0 Tottenham Hotspur Spurs suffered a narrow first-leg defeat in the San Siro Diaz nodded in early on after Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster had saved a Theo Hernandez shot and then superbly got a hand on the scorer's initial follow-up attempt. Antonio Conte's side looked relatively comfortable for long periods of the contest against the seven-time European champions. A young midfield pairing of Pape Sarr and Oliver Skipp deputised confidently for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (suspended) and Rodrigo Bentancur (injured). Not much attacking threat from the away side They were rarely able to build any attacking momentum with their front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski. They were all well-shackled by an AC Milan side that was well-disciplined. Will Milan have regrets? Mian's only regret will be not to have put the tie beyond this depleted Spurs side. Can they get at least a draw in North London to see them qualify for the last eight of the compe

Transfer Rumours: Salah on the move?

Mo Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool Where could he go? The red side of Merseyside are planning a major overhaul on the back of a poor campaign amid takeover speculation and upheaval behind the scenes. Where will the rebuild go next? Title winner Sadio Mane was sold last summer to make way for the club-record Darwin Nunez signing. It will need a similar star-player departure to enable Jurgen Klopp and the club’s recruitment team to bring in the players to try and kickstart a new era. The big question for Liverpool fans (discussed further down the page) is who they would replace Salah with him. Salah's been a huge player for Liverpool In 2017, Salah signed for Liverpool for a then-club record transfer of £36.9 million. In his first season, he set the record for most Premier League goals scored in a 38-game season and helped Liverpool to

Premier League: Man United battle to win over Leeds

Image
Leeds United 0 - 2 Manchester United The Red Devils scored twice in the final 10 minutes at Elland Road to leave Leeds deep in relegation trouble. Three days on from Marcus Rashford netting the Red Devils' first goal as they came back from 2-0 down at home to secure a Premier League draw, he broke the deadlock when he rose to meet Luke Shaw's curling cross to head past Illan Meslier for his 21st goal of a superb season. Alejandro Garnacho then outpaced the home defence before beating Meslier at his near post to the joy of Erik ten Hag. Many pundits have argued that the result was harsh on Leeds. They created a number of opportunities but could not beat David de Gea. Reaction The United boss told MUTV: "We made changes to avoid fatigue. The Bees got the equaliser that they probably deserved when Ivan Toney nodded in Christian Norgaard's cross from close range. Has this dented Arsenal's title chances? Who knows? They didn't look at their best in this game and will be concerned that they didn't take the three points from this match. DJ, a
