UCL: Liverpool and City progress

Let's have a look at all the reaction from another dramatic night of Champions League football. Atlético Madrid 0 - 0 Manchester City (Agg:0-1) City produced a  disciplined performance to hold off the challenge of Atletico Madrid - and set up a Champions League semi-final showdown with the Spanish side's city rivals Real. Knowing a clean sheet would be enough to seal the tie, City kept their cool in the face of a hostile home crowd and intimidation from a physical Atleti side showing far more ambition than in the first leg. The Manchester City boss told BT Sport: "It is the champion of Spain and they played with energy. Overall we are in the semi-finals, it is well deserved. The opponent is so tough, all the teams in the Champions League come here and suffer so it is important we go through." Tough and intense one, but we withstood it well! On to the semis! 💪🏼💙 @ManCity pic.twitter.com/XOWfk6w0xA — Ilkay Gündogan (@IlkayGuendogan) April 13, 2022 UCL: A memorable

Fernandinho, 36, signed a one-year contract extension with City last June. When asked if he expected to still be at Etihad Stadium next season, he said: "No, I want to play regularly." The midfielder has won a number of trophies during his time in Manchester. This includes four Premier League titles and six EFL Cups since joining City from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013. He has made 23 appearances for the club this season, but started just six times in the Premier League as the club bid to retain the title. PL: Everton boost survival hopes

Image
Everton 1 - 0 Manchester United Everton picked up a priceless victory in their battle to avoid relegation as a poor Manchester United were beaten. The Toffees were plunged into crisis when they lost at fellow strugglers Burnley in midweek to leave them facing the prospect of dropping into the bottom three this weekend if results went against them. In a game low on quality but high in tension, Everton's victory came courtesy of Anthony Gordon's 27th-minute drive, which took a heavy deflection off United captain Harry Maguire to leave keeper David de Gea wrong-footed. Everton keeper Jordan Pickford made two early saves from Marcus Rashford and a vital late block from Cristiano Ronaldo. However, there was rarely any sense of siege as United lacked urgency. They failed to break through. This was another blow to their hopes of making the Champions League. You can watch the highlights of the match in the video below.
