Premier League: Bournemouth end Arsenal’s unbeaten start

Image
Bournemouth 2 - 0 Arsenal Bournemouth ended Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season, with William Saliba receiving the first red card of his career during the match at Vitality Stadium. Author - William G from GMCR Football The French defender was sent off within the first half-hour after tripping Evanilson near the halfway line, following a poor pass from Leandro Trossard that left him exposed. It was the kind of scenario Arsenal had already managed to escape against both Manchester City and Brighton, but this time the challenge would last for over 60 minutes. Arsenal’s resilience eventually crumbled when Ryan Christie scored a brilliant goal, firing into the top corner after a clever corner routine, with substitute Justin Kluivert flicking on Lewis Cook’s low ball into the box. Kluivert later sealed Bournemouth’s win by confidently converting a penalty nine minutes after Christie’s strike. The spot-kick was awarded when David Raya brought down Evanilson, Bournemouth’s £40 million

The Big Discussion: Kai Havertz shining for Arsenal

Image
Kai Havertz benefits from Mikel Arteta’s evolving Arsenal side The German forward us leading the line for the Gunners and is now working well with Bukayo Saka. Let's explore the impact that he's having at the moment. As long as Bukayo Saka maintains his remarkable consistency, he’ll remain the standout star at Arsenal. The academy-grown winger notched his sixth and seventh assists of the season during the Gunners’ comeback victory against relegation-threatened Southampton on Saturday afternoon, also netting his second league goal of the campaign. Saka ranks among the Premier League’s top 10 players for shots, key passes and dribbles this season, showcasing the full extent of his attacking prowess. As Arsenal chase their first league title in over two decades, Saka is undoubtedly the main man. However, it would be wrong to say Arsenal are a one-man team. At 23, Saka is clearly Mikel Arteta’s crown jewel, but he is surrounded by other equally brilliant talents. Premier League

UCL: Havertz and Saka sink PSG

Image
Arsenal 2 - 0 PSG Arsenal claimed their first victory in the revamped Champions League, defeating Paris St-Germain in North London. Mikel Arteta's men built on their initial draw with Atalanta by taking charge early, thanks to two first-half goals: Kai Havertz's well-timed header and a cleverly placed free-kick from Bukayo Saka that slipped past PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Although PSG had their chances, most notably when Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves struck the woodwork either side of the break, Arsenal's dominance in the first half set the stage for their triumph. Havertz opened the scoring after 20 minutes, beating Donnarumma to Leandro Trossard’s inviting cross and nodding it home. Saka added a second, catching the PSG keeper off guard with a long-range free-kick that found its way into the net through a crowded penalty box. PSG, now in a period of transition without their former stars like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar, applied more pressure in the

Premier League: Late drama at The Emirates

Image
Arsenal 4 - 2 Leicester City The Gunners snatched a thrilling victory over Leicester at the Emirates Stadium with two stoppage-time goals. There was a fantastic atmosphere before the match.  An own goal from Wilfred Ndidi in the 94th minute, followed by a close-range finish from Kai Havertz deep into injury time , crushed Leicester's hopes of an unlikely point after they had clawed back from two goals down in the second half. Gabriel Martinelli had put the Gunners ahead in the first half with a composed finish from Jurrien Timber’s cross, before setting up Leandro Trossard for a second goal right on the brink of half-time. Leicester barely threatened in the first half, managing only a single touch in Arsenal’s box before the break. However, they pulled one back just over a minute into the second half when James Justin’s header from Facundo Buonanotte’s free-kick deflected off Havertz and into the net. Justin then levelled the score in spectacular fashion, lashing home a swervin

However, substitute Stones found the net after a well-executed short corner during the seventh minute of added time. Arsenal will feel both pride and heartache. They had initially fallen behind to Erling Haaland’s 100th goal for City but turned the game on its head, taking the lead before the break. In a series of crucial moments, City lost key player Rodri to a knee injury after 21 minutes, adding to Pep Guardiola’s frustrations as Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori fired a high, angled shot past Ederson just seconds later. UCL: Raya rescues Arsenal

Image
Atalanta 0 - 0 Arsenal David Raya pulled off a stunning double save from the penalty spot as Arsenal played out a draw against Atalanta in their Champions League opener. The Spaniard dived low to his right to deny Mateo Retegui’s penalty, then somehow scrambled across his goal to keep out the striker’s follow-up header right on the line. It was the only moment of excitement and quality in an otherwise forgettable match in Bergamo. Clear chances were hard to come by, with Raya not needing to make any other saves beyond that dramatic two-second sequence. Arsenal, on the other hand, didn’t manage a single shot between the 18th and 75th minute. Like their opponents, their only two shots on target came as part of a double save. Atalanta's keeper, Marco Carnesecchi, tipped away Bukayo Saka’s free-kick and then blocked Thomas Partey’s close-range follow-up. Premier League: North London is red

Image
Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 1 Arsenal Gabriel was Arsenal's North London derby day hero as he headed home the only goal to secure a third-straight victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Brazilian defender towered over the Spurs defence on 64 minutes to divert home a Bukayo Saka corner and settle a game of few chances. You'd have to say that Arsenal enjoyed the better of throughout the contest and ultimately deserved their hard-fought victory. The result ensured that Arsenal remains unbeaten in the Premier League this campaign, but more importantly for all Gooners, saw them claim a hat-trick of wins at the home of their neighbours for the first time since 1988 as their fantastic away record in 2024 continues. Pre Season: Arsenal win in LA

Image
Arsenal 2 - 1 Manchester United Manchester United were defeated in their opening game of the US tour against Premier League rivals in Los Angeles. Højlund gave his team an early lead in the 10th minute, latching onto Marcus Rashford’s first-time pass, overpowering young defender Ayden Heaven, and slipping the ball through keeper Karl Hein’s legs. The Danish forward missed a close-range opportunity from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross before appearing to suffer a muscle injury just 15 minutes in, forcing him to leave the field. Yoro's departure was similarly unfortunate. The 18-year-old defender, who had only joined United from Lille 10 days ago, went down and required extensive treatment before also having to withdraw. Manager Erik ten Hag was understandably frustrated by these injuries. Despite their strong start, the match didn’t end to the Dutchman’s satisfaction either. Gabriel Jesus equalised with a close-range effort after 25 minutes, which Ten Hag believed should have been r

Pre Season: Arsenal win on penalties

Image
Arsenal 1 - 1 Bournemouth  Arsenal won 5-4 on penalties Arsenal began their three-match tour of the United States by beating Bournemouth 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.  Fabio Vieira gave Arsenal a first-half lead when he hit Reiss Nelson's deep cross on the volley. After that closely fought 90 minutes, the Arsenal keeper Karl Hein came up trumps in the penalty shootout by saving two spot-kicks, ending the night on the high. Ultimately, pre-season is all about players gaining fitness ahead of the new campaign. From that perspective, it was a worthwhile exercise for both clubs. For Arsenal, their staff will be figuring out how they can improve once again and become Premier League champions for the first time since 2004. Transfer News: Raya signs for Arsenal permanently

Image
Do you think this is a good permanent move Arsenal fans? The Gunners have activated the £27m option to permanently buy Brentford goalkeeper David Raya after his successful loan spell last season. Raya kept 16 Premier League clean sheets for the Gunners to win the Golden Glove, conceding just 16 league goals in the campaign. He did have an underwhelming start to the season. His lowest point came after making two errors in Arsenal's last-gasp 4-3 win over Luton in December. Arsenal already had a settled keeper in Aaron Ramsdale, who had played all 38 league matches the previous season, keeping 14 clean sheets. Still, boss Mikel Arteta opted for a new option. Click here for more Arsenal news and stories He missed only two league matches when he was ineligible to face his parent club Brentford. An exciting player that was loved by everyone

At Highbury, he helped The Gunners win the First Division title in 1991 and secured both the FA Cup and League Cup in 1993. He also played a crucial role in Arsenal's victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final against Parma in 1994. Another highlight of Campbell's career was his loan move to Everton from Turkish side Trabzonspor in March 1999. Escaping a difficult stint in Turkey, he scored nine goals in eight games, helping Walter Smith’s team avoid relegation. Campbell's popularity soared at Everton, especially after he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield in September 1999. This victory was particularly memorable as it marked the last time Everton won at An

Last day drama: Throwback to 1989

Image
Liverpool 0 - 2 Arsenal (May 1989) Let's explore another moment of last-day drama in English football's top-flight. Arsenal, who hadn't claimed a league title for nearly twenty years, faced Liverpool on the final day of the 1988-89 season. Liverpoo l were not only the reigning champions but also the dominant force in English football at the time, having won the First Division five times in the previous seven seasons.  Arsenal had other plans. Premier League: Title race will go to final day

Image
Manchester United 0 - 1 Arsenal Arsenal ensured the title race will go to the final day with victory over a depleted Manchester United side at Old Trafford. The Gunners display was often unconvincing here but they got the job done. Their manager will be pleased with how they have kept the pressure on Manchester Citty. The only goal of the game came when Leandro Trossard struck after 20 minutes. Lazy defending from struggling veteran Casemiro played Kai Havertz onside, his cross was then turned in by the Belgian at the near post. Manchester United showed plenty of effort and endeavor. However, they suffered from a glaring lack of quality. The Red Devils never seriously tested Arsenal keeper David Raya, as their own hopes of European football next season faded further.  It's looking increasingly likely that they will only qualify for Europe if they beat Manchester City in the upcoming Fa Cup final. What impact will this have on the title race? Arsenal must now hope north London
