Shortly after the break, Stevens completed his hat-trick, sealing a dominant win for the home side – their sixth consecutive victory on home turf in all competitions this season. League Two: Morecambe fight back against Fleetwood

Image
Fleetwood Town 2 - 2 Morecambe Bottom side Morecambe pulled off a remarkable late comeback to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw in their Lancashire derby against Fleetwood in League Two. Fleetwood seemed to be cruising to victory at Highbury after first-half goals from Ryan Graydon and Ronan Coughlan. However, Yann Songo’o gave Morecambe hope with a goal 16 minutes from time ,  and substitute Hallam Hope completed the dramatic comeback with an 86th-minute equaliser. Morecambe manager Derek Adams, still seeking his side's first win of the season, was forced to watch from the stands as he served a touchline ban. His team’s goalkeeper, Stuart Moore, played a crucial role, making 11 saves to keep Morecambe in the contest. Fans could always sense that there was more drama to come though.  There was a fantastic atmosphere before the match A closer look at what happened Fleetwood's Ronan Coughlan had already signalled his threat early on when he hit the post, and Moore worked hard to

League Two: Harrogate halt Doncaster momentum

Image
Harrogate Town 2 - 0 Doncaster Rovers Harrogate halted Doncaster’s bid to extend their lead at the top of League Two, as goals from Ellis Taylor and Josh March secured a home victory. The defeat means Doncaster , Harrogate's Yorkshire rivals, have yet to beat their opponents in any of their five league encounters. This is despite Harrogate entering the match on the back of three consecutive losses without scoring. It took Harrogate 27 minutes to break the deadlock when Taylor scored his second senior goal with a precise header from James Daly’s cross. They extended their lead just before half-time when Jasper Moon launched the ball upfield. March raced past a static Doncaster defence and managed to divert Jay McGrath’s last-ditch challenge past goalkeeper Ted Sharman-Lowe. Doncaster made a series of substitutions in the second half in an attempt to get back into the game, but aside from a deflected long-range shot from McGrath, they failed to trouble Harrogate’s keeper, James B

League Two: Notts County thrash Grimsby

Image
Notts County 4 - 1 Grimsby Town Dan Crowley was the star of the show as Notts County secured their first League Two win of the season as they thrashed Grimsby. The Magpies captain delivered a perfectly placed cross, allowing Alassana Jatta to score his third goal in as many games, giving the home side an early lead. Crowley then slipped into the box unnoticed to double the advantage. Jodi Jones added to the tally with a beautifully chipped goal, but Grimsby pulled one back through Harvey Rodgers, who found the far corner. In the second half, Crowley’s deflected shot sealed the victory, as Notts County climbed to fourth place in the early League Two table , while Grimsby dropped to 16th. The tone of the evening was set early on when Grimsby goalkeeper Jordan Wright made a superb reaction save, denying Crowley’s low shot from opening the scoring. Last season, these two teams treated their fans to 15 goals across their League Two encounters, so it was probably inevitable that the net

EFL: Crawley promoted to League One

Crawley Town 2 - 0 Crewe Alexandra Crawley Town secured promotion to League One after a nine-year absence by defeating Crewe Alexandra 2-0 at Wembley. Despite being predicted by many to face relegation at the start of the season, Crawley defied expectations.  Their victory in the League Two play-off final  on Sunday means they will compete in the third tier for only the second time in their history, the first since 2015. Goals from Danilo Orsi and Liam  Kelly,  scored late in each half, were enough to secure the win in the sweltering London heat during  Crawley's  first-ever visit to Wembley in their 128-year history. EFL Cup: Salford City shock Leeds

Image
Salford City 1 - 1 Leeds United  Salford City won 9-8 on penalties To reach the third round of the Carabao Cup, League Two Salford City stunned Championship side Leeds with an epic penalty shootout win. Ossama Ashley scored at the second attempt after Karl Darlow saved his initial effort, but the keeper was adjudged to have come off his line. The fourth-tier side ultimately won 9-8 on penalties. Former Leeds striker Matt Smith powered home a header from 10 yards before the break to give the hosts the lead against the run of play. After Salford failed to clear a free-kick, Pascal Struijk scored an equaliser for the away side, who also hit the woodwork with Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood, but the Ammies won out on spot-kicks to reach the third round in the competition. Connor McLennan had the chance to win it in the first five penalties, but his effort hit the crossbar after ex-Leeds keeper Alex Cairns saved Georginio Rutter's tame effort. League Two: Exeter City gain promotion

Image
Exeter City 2 - 1  Barrow Matt Jay's late winner saw Exeter City gain promotion from League Two as they came from a goal down to beat Barrow 2-1 in a tense affair at St James Park. The hosts fell behind to a Cameron Dawson own goal after Remeao Hutton's long throw-in from the left appeared to go straight in. Kieran Phillips hit the bar for Exeter 15 minutes later before the striker superbly broke to get the equaliser. Exeter then struggled to create any chances after the break until homegrown skipper Matt Jay coolly finished at the far post from Josh Key's cross from the right. The win sees Exeter return to League One after a decade in the fourth tier of English football. Next season they will pit their wits against the likes of Derby County and Barnsley, who have both been recently relegated from the Championship. Reaction Pádraig Amond tweeted: "Finally promoted from League Two after years of heartbreak. What a night and what a group of people." Another play
