Image
Leicester City 2 - 1 Birmingham City The Foxes overcame a stubborn Birmingham City side and took all three points at the King Power on Saturday afternoon.  They have now moved a little closer to a Premier League return.  In the game, Dewsbury-Hall scored the first goal for the Foxes in the first half. However, Mads Hermansen made a terrible mistake and deflected the ball off Jay Stansfield, causing an own goal. With just a few minutes left in normal time, Stephy Mavididi scored a header, securing the win for the hosts.  This sent the home fans wild. They are starting to dream again of a Premier League return after a few dropped points.  Championship news and stories can be found here Just as the win against Norwich City earlier this week marked a return to form, this was a match that followed a script that Leicester fans saw regularly during the earlier stages of the season. EFL: Burnley carry on impressive form

Image
Burnley 3 - 0 Birmingham City The Turf Moor side has their sights set firmly on a return to the Premier League.  They restored their lead at the top of the Championship to three points as they deservedly beat a resolute Birmingham City. Goals from Anass Zaroury and Connor Roberts were supplemented by an injury-time third from Nathan Tella. Vincent Kompany's in-form Clarets completed their 14th win in 24 Championship games this season to edge clear again of second-placed Sheffield United. Highlights from  Burnley Football Club - YouTube   The hosts got off to a flyer when Morocco's Zaroury hit the fastest Championship goal of the season - after just 49 seconds. After helping to set up the first goal, Roberts then got in on the goalscoring act himself when he ended the first half as it had begun a minute before the break with another neatly worked move down the right. Tella then rounded it all off as he ran through to score to complete the Blues' heaviest defeat of the s

EFL: Improved Birmingham shock QPR

COME ON! @SandowRs ! 😆 pic.twitter.com/Fce5uUqVGc — Birmingham City FC (@BCFC) October 28, 2022 Birmingham fans and players clearly enjoyed their night.   QPR were done no favours by two of their London neighbours as Blues won with first-half goals from two loan men - Arsenal's American defender Auston Trusty and West Ham wing-back Manny Longelo. Any hopes that Michael Beale's side might turn it round after the break were then ended with Blues goalkeeper John Ruddy's fine 79th-minute penalty save to deny Lyndon Dykes. After winning four times in five away games, this was a second straight defeat on the road for QPR, while Blues' third win in five - in front of 19,007, their biggest home crowd since before the Covid pandemic, lifts them into the top half. It looked on the cards ri
