Premier League: Man United are now a point from the Champions League

Image
AFC Bournemouth 0 - 1 Manchester United Manchester United are now only a point from the Champions League after Casemiro's stunning overhead kick edged Manchester United a massive step closer.  In a match that was clear-cut opportunities, a piece of magic from Casemiro proved the difference. The midfielder picked up a beautiful pass from Christian Eriksen and turned away from Marcos Senesi before acrobatically hammering home. As was the case against Wolves last week , United lacked urgency against Bournemouth with Dominic Solanke twice going close and David Brooks forcing a fingertip save from De Gea. They were without their top goal scorer this season, Marcus Rashford , and struggled to mount a serious threat for much of the time after their goal.  Wout Weghorst almost scored late on. His strike was punched away by the Bournemouth keeper and kept the score at 1-0. Bruno Fernandes also nearly scoed before that. They managed to see the game out though, and thanks to Liverpoo

A very important goal for Everton. https://t.co/IlqFoRT8ul pic.twitter.com/DRTEvyAM6o — SuperFootball (@ESFootballNews) May 21, 2023 It looked like Hee Chan Hwang had scored the winner for Wolves when he turned home the rebound after a lung-bursting run and powerful effort from Adama Traore, and his side could have put the game beyond doubt with chances either side of the break at Molineux.   Instead, relegation-threatened Everton earned their point at the death when James Tarkowski beat Dan Bentley in the air and Yerry Mina turned in from close range. The Everton boss Sean Dyche told the media: "Formation and tactics doesn't always win games, mentality wins games and gets us a point today with a firm mentality and people not making excuses. They kept knocking on the door as hard as

Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Arsenal (Manchester City are now Premier League champions.) Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal at the City Ground to secure their Premier League survival. Taiwo Awoniyi's 19th-minute goal was enough to seal the win and spark jubilant scenes from the home supporters at the final whistle. Arsenal dominated possession throughout the match but they could not find a way through Forest's spirited defence. After what must have seemed like an age as he paced up and down his technical area, waiting for seven minutes of injury time to pass and the loss of goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the very last seconds, Forest boss Steve Cooper was able to celebrate survival.
