UEL: Sevilla win Europa League

 Sevilla 1 - 1 Roma (Sevilla won 4-1 on penalties) Sevilla claimed a record-extending seventh Europa League title as they beat Roma on penalties at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Gonzalo Montiel scored the winning penalty for the Spanish side following a 1-1 draw. You can watch the highlights of the match in the video below. Italy: AC Milan qualify for next season's Champions League

 Juventus 0 - 1 AC Milan Olivier Giroud scored the winner as AC Milan qualified for next season's Champions League with a narrow win against Juventus. The defeat ended Juve's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. The home side started the match aggressively, knowing that only a win was good enough to maintain their slim hopes of securing a top-four finish. Massimiliano Allegri made enforced changes to his team as their star striker and top scorer Dusan Vlahovic was sidelined.  Davide Calabria crossed from the right for the France striker to head in the winner for the Rossoneri. Premier League: Chelsea appoint Mauricio Pochettino

 Chelsea officially have a new manager.  They have confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino will become their head coach from the beginning of the 2023/24 season.  The Argentinian will begin his new role on 1 July 2023 on a two-year contract, with the option of an additional year. Their recent Interim boss Frank Lampard took Chelsea to 12th in the Premier League - their lowest finish since the 1995/1996 season. The blues finished the Premier League   with a 1-1 draw against 4th placed Newcastle United .  In a statement on the Chelsea website, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, said: "Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward.  Aston Villa 2 - 1 Brighton & Hove Albion Aston Villa beat Brighton at Park to secure a return to European football.  The home needed to win to finish seventh in the Premier League and earn a spot in the playoffs for the Europa Conference League. Villa flew out of the blocks and forged ahead when Douglas Luiz scored after eight minutes.  Everton 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth Everton will extend their unbroken 69-year stay in the English top flight. Last week's dramatic draw at Wolves ultimately gave the Goodison Park side the advantage on the final day.  Premier League: Everton secure dramatic draw against Wolves (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Sean Dyche's side came into the contest with their fate in their own hands, knowing victory would be enough to keep them in the Premier League. However, the nervy hosts struggled to break down their opponents in a tense first half.  Let's explore how a dramatic day in Germany resulted in Dortmund missing out on the title in a heartbreaking fashion. 1. FC Köln 1 - 2 Bayern Munich How did this match unfold? It was a very dramatic end. Cologne penalty had cancelled out Kingsley Coman's earlier strike, but an 89th minute winner from Musiala sent the away fans wild. Many Bayern fans probably feared they had blown their opportunity when Cologne's Dejan Ljubicic levelled from the penalty spot with just nine minutes remaining. It was at this time when Dortmund were still chasing a goal but Bayern's win meant they had done all they can. Coventry City 1 -1 Luton Town (Luton won 6-5 on penalties.) Luton Town completed their journey from non-league to Premier League. Both sets of fans created an incredible atmosphere during the match They beat Coventry City on penalties to win the Championship play-off final at Wembley. Away from the raucous atmosphere of the play-off semi-final at Kenilworth Road, some were concerned that Luton might struggle in the more vast space of Wembley. However, they were by far the more dominant side before the break. Aside from the one goal they did score, they had two more disallowed - and a string of other dangerous moments too.
