EFL: Reading appoint Selles as manager

Image
Reading are to appoint former Southampton head coach Ruben Selles as their new manager. The 40-year-old Spaniard will take over subject to him obtaining a visa, which the club applied for last week. Selles took charge of Southampton following Nathan Jones' departure in February but only won two of his 17 matches at the helm as Saints finished bottom of the Premier League. Premier League reaction: Southampton relegated (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) He left his former club last month after being told his contract would not be renewed following the club's relegation. During his time at Southampton, his record was pretty bad, but there were clearly many reasons for this. There were two wins, four draws and 10 defeats; 18 goals scored and 33 conceded. That’s not to mention a shock FA Cup defeat at home to Grimsby Town, who ran out 2-1 winners at St Mary’s. Most Southampton seemed to like him and believe he could have done a decent job in other circumstances. In his latest rol

EFL: Cardiff City get late winner

Cardiff City 1 - 0 Reading Cardiff City's recent mini-revival under new boss Sabri Lamouchi continued thanks to a later winner against Reading. Romaine Sawyers fired in from the edge of the box in the 91st minute to claim a deserved win. This was the club's second in a week under their new manager. A first home win since October lifts the Bluebirds five points clear of the Championship relegation zone. Reading will stay 15th in the table but could have no complaint over the loss despite the timing of the goal. A closer look at the match The closest Reading came was a blunder by Cardiff goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who kicked thin air as Yakou Meite closed in. Cardiff must have thought their luck was out when they hit the crossbar twice in the space of three minutes midway through the second half. But Sawyers capped an impressive display with his first goal since August to claim three vital points in his side's fight for survival. Click here for more EFL News>>> Both

However, Rafael Cabral's mistake handed Sam Austin an equaliser before Amari Morgan-Smith netted on the 82nd minute. It was a memorable day for all Kidderminster fans, and they will be hoping for a big Premier League side in the next round Reaction Kidderminster Harriers boss Russ Penn told the media: "Wolves, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea - it's mad to even be talking about these clubs. "We know it's a one-off, up against a Championship side and we've exceeded expectations. We want to be a league club again. "That's our overall objective but we've got plenty of heart. We had our objectives for this season and this was one of them." Reading boss Veljko Paunovic spoke with BBC Radio Berkshire: "A horrible night. A horrible second half for many reasons. Kidderminster are a tough and organised team, but nothing was unexpec
