Plymouth shock Brentford

Brentford 0 - 1 Plymouth Argyle  Morgan Whittaker scored a dramatic late winner as Plymouth Argyle, bottom of the Championship, stunned Premier League side Brentford to progress in the FA Cup. Author - Ajay  The third-round clash remained goalless until the 82nd minute when Whittaker cut in from the right and drilled a precise left-footed shot past Hakon Valdimarsson to seal the Pilgrims' unlikely victory. Miron Muslic, appointed on Friday to replace Wayne Rooney , watched from the stands as Plymouth delivered a resolute performance, restricting Brentford to very few chances. Fabio Carvalho tested Argyle keeper Conor Hazard twice in the opening 15 minutes, but those were the only shots on target from Thomas Frank's side. Even with star forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa brought on from the bench to break the deadlock, it was Plymouth who found the decisive goal. Brentford nearly forced a late equaliser, but Wissa’s close-range header went wide, and Plymouth held firm d...

Brighton & Hove Albion 1 - 1 Arsenal João Pedro’s second-half penalty dealt a blow to Arsenal’s title ambitions as Brighton held them to a frustrating draw. Author - Ajay  Arsenal started brightly, taking the lead in the 16th minute through Ethan Nwaneri, making just his second Premier League start. The 17-year-old combined cleverly with Mikel Merino and Declan Rice before unleashing a shot that slipped past Bart Verbruggen and nestled in the far corner. The Gunners dominated the first half and looked poised to extend their advantage. However, missed opportunities came back to haunt them when Pedro equalised from the spot just after the hour mark. Click here for more Premier League news and stories The penalty stemmed from an unusual incident as Pedro flicked the ball up, and William Saliba, attempting to clear with his head, made contact with Pedro, who went down. After a VAR review, the referee confirmed the decision, and Pedro confidently sent David Raya the wrong way to...

Aberdeen 1 - 2 Ross County Aberdeen’s struggles deepened as their winless run hit nine games with a 2-1 home defeat to Ross County, who notched their second consecutive away victory in the Scottish Premiership. Author - Ajay  A closer look at what happened at a snowy Pittodrie Ross County, buoyed by breaking a 15-month away drought last week , deservedly took the lead at a snow-swept Pittodrie. Akil Wright’s stunning 30-yard strike flew into the top corner, with Aberdeen visibly struggling to adapt to the challenging conditions. However, the Dons were gifted a way back into the match before the break. County goalkeeper Jordan Amissah made a calamitous error, letting Kevin Nisbet’s free-kick slip under his body and trickle over the line. The equaliser sparked Aberdeen into life as they began the second half brightly. Duk came agonisingly close to giving the hosts the lead, his thunderous effort smashing off the crossbar — with replays suggesting a slight touch from Amissah. Was ...

PL: Norwich relegated

Aston Villa 2 - 0 Norwich City Norwich were relegated from the Premier League after a defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park. The loss, coupled with Burnley's dramatic comeback win at Watford, left them bottom of the table and 13 points from safety with only four games left. Their fans continued to support in numbers and with lots of noise. This was despite a relegation that has looked on the cards for some time. Ollie Watkins put Villa ahead in the first half, capitalising on a slip from Brandon Williams before lashing high into the net. That error summed up Norwich's season, as did their lack of potency in front of goal. They created limited openings, while Villa hit the woodwork in each half. Reaction This was the reaction of Norwich manager Dean Smith. Footage from the Norwich YouTube account. One Norwich fan replied: "The sensible fans do not blame you Deano. You've not had a single chance to shape this team the way you want to, and I sincerely hope you g...
