Jesse Lingard's future career at Manchester United is in doubt after talks over a new contract collapsed. Lingard's present deal expires next summer and United hoped to extend the England midfielder's time at the club following an exciting loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season. Despite being linked with moves to several clubs, the English midfielder opted to stay at Manchester United this season. He reportedly believed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would provide him with more game time. Instead, he has just started just one game throughout the current campaign. This was the EFL Cup defeat by West Ham in September. Top-flight domestic football is returning after the international break. Let's have a look at some of the latest news from across the continent. AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks set to extend his stay at the club. The Swedish legend re-joined the club in January last year. He is out of contract in the summer but rumours in Italy suggest that he will sign a new contract until June 2023.  Manchester City are once again looking to strengthen their squad. Reports across Europe believe they are close to signing Barcelona and Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong for around £75 million.  With Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the final year of his contract, the North London club are on the hunt for a replacement. Scotland: Giovanni van Bronckhorst announced as manager of Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been announced as the new manager of Rangers. He will replace Steven Gerrard, who had left for Aston Villa in the Premier League. This is all subject to him being granted a work permit The Dutchman played for Rangers between 1998 and 2001. He won five trophies including two league titles. He went on to win more with Arsenal and Barcelona, including the Champions League with the latter. He has also coached Feyenoord to the Dutch title. The midfielder won over 100 caps, captaining the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final. This was his final match in a wonderful career.  Non-league Stockport County beat League One Bolton Wanderers in a thrilling FA Cup first-round replay. The chaotic match saw pitch invasions, a lost shirt and a missing corner flag.  Stockport boss Dave Challinor told the media: "Unbelievable game, this competition has provided things like that in the past but you'll go a long way to match something like that."  After a busy few days of international football, the focus is about to placed back on the club game again. Let's have a look at all the latest news and gossip. It is being reported across Spanish media that Real Madrid will not try to sign Kylian Mbappe in January.  They will instead target the  striker next summer, when he is out of contract with PSG.  Similar outlets in Spain are also reporting that Philippe Coutinho will snub Newcastle United in January. Many believe he has no intention of leaving Barcelona.  Wolves are ready to sell Spain winger Adama Traore in January as talks over a new deal continue to stall. How has the world of football translated onto the small screen? We have picked some excellent documentaries and TV series that are worth a watch. Dream Team Dream Team was a drama that aired on Sky One from 1997 to 2007; it chronicled the on-field and off-field affairs of the fictional Harchester United Football Club. It was certainly more dramatic than many of the Netflix and Amazon Prime series that are based on real-life football teams.  Sunderland ‘Till I Die Sunderland ‘Till I Die is a documentary series focusing on Sunderland A.F.C. The first series showcases their year in the Championship and a second successive relegation. During the second series, fortunes start to improve for the Tyne and Wear side, but it ultimately ends in heartbreak as they lose in the League One Play-Off Final. Several reports have indicated that Tottenham and Manchester City are interested in signing 21-year-old Fiorentina and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic in January. Wales celebrated Gareth Bale's 100th cap with a fantastic victory over Belarus to move to second place in their World Cup qualifying group. Aaron Ramsey put Wales ahead in the second minute before Bale set up Neco Williams to score with a low shot which Belarus keeper Sergei Chernik should have saved. Bale was taken off at half-time as he made his first appearance after two months out injured. Ramsey extended the hosts' lead with a second-half penalty. Ben Davies then scored his first international goal and, after Artem Kontsevoi whipped in a superb 20-yard strike for Belarus, Connor Roberts flicked in from a free-kick for Wales' fifth. A Manchester United tells us of his emotional connection to the club and why he is so frustrated with the current situation. This is the first article of our Fans Voice series. We beat Tottenham 3-1 and was mesmerised by the sights and sounds. In the previous weeks, we had thrown away a lead at the top of old First Division and lost the title to Leeds United. My dad knew this would be my first game and thought it would be a title party, sadly he was mistaken. We only had to wait another year to finally clinch the title and we were both there as we celebrated winning the first-ever Premier League. I was slightly older so was able to appreciate things a bit more. Little did my and my dad know though but football was about to change forever. Domination but at what cost?
