Championship: Stoke thrash Pompey

Image
Stoke City 6 - 1 Portsmouth Tom Cannon bagged four goals as Stoke City stormed to a dominant win over Portsmouth, securing their first Championship victory under new head coach Narcis Pelach. Cannon opened the scoring for Stoke after 13 minutes with a superb curling free-kick from 25 yards—his first goal for the club. Portsmouth hit back in the 29th minute when Mark O'Mahony finished off a swift counter-attack, but Stoke quickly regained control. Cannon struck again, and Sam Gallagher added another in the space of three minutes just before half-time. Cannon then netted twice more in rapid succession after the break, before Andrew Moran rounded off the comprehensive win, leaving Portsmouth still searching for their first victory after eight league matches. Championship: Hull City produce astonishing second-half turnaround

Image
Stoke City 1 - 3 Hull City Hull City staged a remarkable second-half comeback, spoiling Narcis Pelach's first match as Stoke City manager and securing Tim Walter’s first win as Tigers boss on his seventh attempt. Stoke appeared to be cruising towards a comfortable victory, leading 1-0 at half-time courtesy of Ben Wilmot’s 30th-minute header. However, Kasey Palmer sparked Hull’s revival with a 63rd-minute equaliser, heading in the rebound after his penalty was saved by Viktor Johansson. This was the first of three Tigers goals in a 16-minute blitz. Substitute Regan Slater capitalised on a Wilmot mistake to fire in a powerful shot from 18 yards in the 77th minute. Just two minutes later, Palmer's weak shot took a fortuitous deflection off Wilmot’s calf and slipped through Johansson’s legs to make it 3-1. EFL Cup: Stoke thrash Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough 0 - 5 Stoke City Stoke City shocked Championship rivals Middlesbrough with a stunning 5-0 victory, securing their place in the Carabao Cup third round. The Potters' 18-year-old striker, Emre Tezgel, took advantage of sloppy defending by the hosts to calmly slot in an early opener. Middlesbrough fell apart in the second half, conceding four goals in a chaotic 12-minute spell, marking the sixth time they've been beaten by a five-goal margin at home. Ryan Mmaee scored from close range before Lewis Koumas arrived unmarked at the far post, and substitute Million Manhoef added two goals in just seven minutes after coming on. Middlesbrough, who made nine changes from their weekend draw against Portsmouth, had a chance to take the lead early on. Josh Coburn found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper but dragged his shot narrowly wide. Stoke broke the deadlock when Koumas and Andrew Moran combined to set up Tezgel, who had plenty of time and space to control the ball

The home side came closest to equalising when on-loan Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe sent a far-post header across goal and only narrowly wide. Roberto de Zerbi's men failed to reach the heights that allowed them to beat Liverpool in the previous round. However, Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk turned in another impressive defensive display on his 400th appearance for the club. The away side always had a measure of control against their Championship opponents. Is history about to be made? This will only be Brighton's thir
