Image
AFC Bournemouth 2 - 0 Newcastle United Dominic Solanke scored twice against Newcastle to give his side a deserved win. Despite Bournemouth squandering numerous opportunities in the first half, Solanke finally broke the deadlock after an hour, seizing a lucky bounce off Joe Willock to calmly slot the ball in from close quarters. Solanke wasn't done yet, doubling Bournemouth's lead 13 minutes later by flicking in a rebound from Luis Sinisterra's header that had hit the post. It was a tough break for Newcastle, missing key players like the suspended Bruno Guimaraes and the injured Callum Wilson, with Miguel Almiron also forced off in the first half. The match showcased Solanke's prowess and added to the woes for the visiting side. In such a close season at the top and bottom, this one match could have a huge impact on both teams chances. Manager Erik ten Hag believed that VAR's intervention in dismissing Marcus Rashford for a challenge on Elias Jelert was a "game-changer," and it's tough to dispute that claim. Referee Donatas Rumsas was summoned to the pitchside monitor twice more, awarding penalties to both sides for handballs, described as soft by most people.  UCL: Emotional and dramatic night at Old Trafford (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com)
