Everton start new era with a win

Everton 2 - 0 Peterborough United  Premier League strugglers Everton kickstarted life after Sean Dyche with a hard-fought victory over League One side Peterborough in the FA Cup third round. Author - Sarah W  Thursday night's tie at Goodison Park was overshadowed by the shock announcement of Dyche's sacking just three hours before kick-off. Sheffield Wednesday 5 - 1 Peterborough United  (The match finished 5-5 on aggregate, Sheffield Wednesday won 5-3 on penalties.) Sheffield Wednesday pulled one of the greatest playoff comebacks in English Football League history to beat Peterborough United on penalties. Substitute Jack Hunt scored the fifth penalty as the Owls, who had trailed 4-0 from the first leg, secured their place at Wembley in the League One play-off final. Throughout the match, people were discussing what was happening on social media. Very few people expected Wednesday to turn this match around.  How did that happen? The home side made the perfect start when Michael Smith slotted home a penalty in the opening 10 minutes to give the home fans renewed hope a miracle could be on the cards before Lee Gregory tapped in to make it 2-0 after 25 minutes. Huddersfield Town 3 - 0 Peterborough United Two first-half goals put Huddersfield on the way to a thoroughly dominant victory over relegation-threatened Peterborough that moved the Terriers up to second in the Championship. OIlie Turton hit the bar while Lewis O'Brien and Duane Holmes both twice went close before Lees finally added Town's third by heading home Harry Toffolo's cushioned knockback from another corner.
