Harborough Town 1 - 0 Bury FC Author - Thomas J It was heartbreak for fans of Bury in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Many of their fans will be glad to just have a team to support now after all their problems.  It was reported that 600 away fans travelled down from Bury. They travelled with their tinfoil FA Cup trophies, There was a flag of sheer defiance that stated: "Shook by anger, we shed many tears, they tried to destroy us, we are still here." These fans travelled to Harborough full of hope as they remained unbeaten in the North West Counties and believed they could reach the FA Cup proper for the first time since their expulsion from the EFL in 2019. Those have been a long five years. The first two empty as the pandemic stalled the launch of the phoenix club Bury AFC. Eastleigh 0 - 1 Southend United Author - William G Southend United secured a dramatic Emirates FA Cup win against Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium, with Aribim Pepple’s late goal, just two minutes from time, sending the Shrimpers into the first round proper. The match started slowly, with both sides struggling to create clear chances in the opening 15 minutes. The pace remained sluggish throughout, until Pepple broke the deadlock just before full-time. Battling past a couple of defenders on the right wing, he fired a shot beyond the goalkeeper, clinching a last-minute victory for Southend. Gareth Barry (remember him) has signed for a new club Former England midfielder Gareth Barry, who holds the record for the most Premier League appearances, has now signed up to play village football in Mid Sussex. At 43 years old, Barry has joined Hurstpierpoint, a team competing in the second tier of the Mid Sussex Football League - which is the 11th tier of the English football pyramid. During his professional career, Barry played 653 matches in the top tier for Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton, and West Bromwich Albion , spanning an impressive 22 years. He earned 53 caps for England, scoring three goals, and was part of the squads for Euro 2000 and the 2010 World Cup. In the 2011-12 season, Barry made 34 league appearances for Manchester City, contributing to their Premier League title win. He also lifted the FA Cup with the club. Eastleigh  1 - 3 Newport County Newport County secured a spot in the FA Cup fourth round and a lucrative tie against Manchester United by defeating Eastleigh 3-1.  Aaron Wildig gave Newport an early lead, skillfully gliding past goalkeeper Joe McDonnell following great play from the County. Paul McCallum equalized for Eastleigh after 48 minutes with a well-placed half-volley, levelling the score against Newport. However, Newport's James Clarke regained the lead with a header on the hour mark, and the victory was sealed by Will Evans, their top scorer. Yeovil Town 2 - 0 Southend United At Huish Park, Yeovil Town defeated National League side Southend United with two superb goals. After just two minutes, Glovers took the lead through a stunning strike from Jake Wannell and despite heavy pressure from their higher division opponents during the second half, they secured their progress after Jordan Young smashed home a superb goal on 67 minutes. Southend continued to pile on the pressure after Yeovil went 2-0 up. However, the backline of the home side stood firm to keep only their third clean sheet of the season. George, a Yeovil fan from Somerset, said: "What a win, I hope we get a decent draw in the next round now." A vote to merge Bury FC and Bury AFC passed and paved the way for football to return to the iconic stadium. <More Non League news> Members of both clubs failed to reach a two-thirds majority in a previous first merger vote in October. This time over 90% of the Bury FC Supporters' Society and 97% of Bury AFC members voted to form one club to play at Gigg Lane from next season. This unified club in Bury also qualifies for local council and government levelling up funding. What league with the team play in? When Bury F C was expelled from the English Football League in 2019, some fans going formed Bury AFC.  Wrexham 3 - 2 Notts County Wrexham took a huge step towards promotion from the National League with a thrilling win over rivals Notts County at the Racecourse Ground.
