Premier League: Leeds United's chances of survival dented

Fulham 2 - 1 Leeds United Leeds United's chances of staying in the Premier League were dented after a poor performance at Craven Cottage.  Goals from Harry Wilson and Andreas Pereira handed Fulham a 2-1 victory over Leeds United at Craven Cottage, cementing the west London side's position in the top half of the table. Fulham's best opportunities fell to Pereira from long range. Fulham took the lead in the 58th minute with a powerful finish from Wilson after Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier parried a Willian cross into Wilson's path. Fulham continued to apply the pressure and almost doubled their lead when a Pereira free kick rattled the crossbar. And the hosts' second came similarly. Meslier could only divert a cross fr

Premier League: Fulham thrash West Ham

Fulham 5 - 0 West Ham United Raul Jimenez continued his impressive resurgence, scoring another goal as Fulham convincingly defeated a lackluster West Ham, marking their second five-goal triumph in just five days at Craven Cottage. The Mexican forward opened the scoring by heading in Joao Palhinha's cross, notching his fourth goal in five league games. Under Marco Silva's management, Fulham dominated the first half, with Willian adding a second from Andreas Pereira's cut-back and Tosin Adarabioyo out-jumping Kurt Zouma to head in the third from a corner. Despite Lukasz Fabianski denying substitute Harry Wilson, Fulham's dominance continued, culminating in them sealing their second 5-0 victory of the week. This awful performance from West Ham, devoid of energy and ideas, saw them overwhelmed within 18 minutes, leaving Fulham fans delighted with another stellar home display. Fulham, who struggled initially, now boasts 15 goals in their past four games, a stark contras

Fulham: 23/24 Season Review

Image
Let's explore Fulham's 2023/2024 season. This was their second consecutive season in the Premier League since returning to England's top flight. They finished the season in 13th position. In addition, they reached the semi-finals of the EFL Cup but were knocked out in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Some match reports from their season. In August, they earned a hard-fought point against Arsenal at The Emirates. This was achieved thanks to Joao Palhinha. His first-time finish from a corner in the 87th minute earned the away side this draw. Jamie was in the away end and was impressed by elements of his side's performance on that day: "Unfortunately we didn't win, but I think most Fulham fans would say that this is a good result. It is often really difficult to play against Arsenal away from home. We displayed a lot of character after going 2-1 down." One of their best performances of the campaign came against West Ham United in December. Fulham dominated t

Premier League: Chelsea earn narrow win over Fulham

Image
Chelsea 1 - 0 Fulham Chelsea secured a narrow victory over West London rivals Fulham at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, with Cole Palmer's first-half penalty proving to be vital. The win was Chelsea's third consecutive victory, moving them to eighth in the table. Palmer's penalty, following a foul on Raheem Sterling by Issa Diop, marked his ninth goal since joining Chelsea in August. Conor Gallagher came close to adding a late second for Chelsea, hitting the far post with a well-struck effort. Despite Chelsea's wastefulness in front of goal earlier in the week, they did enough to secure the three points.  Chelsea won their fourth consecutive home league match for the first time since July 2020. The victory marked a positive start to Chelsea's 2024 league campaign after a challenging 2023, where they won only 12 of their 43 league games.  They are set to face Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg on 23 January. Transfer News: Ryan Sessegnon rejoins Fulham

Image
There has been an interesting addition to the squad at Craven Cottage Ryan Sessegnon has rejoined Fulham on a two-year deal after his contract expired at Tottenham. The 24-year-old Fulham academy graduate returns to the club until 2026, with the option for a further year. He originally left for Spurs in a £25m deal in August 2019. The winger's spell at Tottenham was marred by hamstring problems and he was limited to 57 appearances for the club. During his first spell with the Cottagers, Sessegnon scored 25 goals and made 18 assists in 120 senior appearances. He becomes Fulham manager Marco Silva's first signing of the summer as they look to build on last season's 13th place finish. This is how they announced the signing on their YouTube account.  More reaction Jamie, a Fulham fan, told us: "This is a great signing. Bringing back Ryan Sessegnon seems like a really smart move and I can't wait to see him playing for us again at Craven Cottage." Lucy, another F

Fulham 2 - 1 Chelsea A fascinating Premier League match saw a Chelsea debutant get a red card and Fulham carried on their potential march to European football ⭐️ Seventh placed Fulham are the Premier League’s biggest overachievers so far this term, and it’s largely down to the Serb... @FulhamFanTV | @WhiteNoise1879 — The Sportsman (@TheSportsman) January 5, 2023 Carlos Vinicius headed in a 72nd-minute winner after Portugal winger Joao Felix had been sent off on his Chelsea debut when the score was 1-1. Willian put the hosts ahead against his former side in the first half. Kalidou Koulibaly then equalised early in the second, but Vinicius' winner saw Fulham move up to sixth in the Premier League. For Chelsea, Joao Felix had been their best player before his dismissal left his side on the back foot. Fulham then got what was probably a deserved winner. Crystal Palace 0 - 3 Fulham "The connection with the fans is stronger than it's ever been." 🫂 @timream5 | #FFC — Fulham Football Club (@FulhamFC) December 27, 2022 It was a nightmare Boxing Day for Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace as they lost 3-0, finishing the game with 9 men. Bobby Decordova-Reid, Tim Ream and Aleksandar Mitrovic scored, with Palace overpowered by their London rivals as they ended the game with nine men. Tyrick Mitchell was dismissed for a foul on Kenny Tete just three minutes after his side went behind. James Tomkins then followed him before the hour. Despite being dominant in the match throughout, Marco Silva's side were helped by Palace's indiscipline, which put a stop to their hopes of a fourth straight home win. The result strengthens the visitors' unlikely European push, as they sit in eighth, just two points off the top six. Heading towards the half-hour mark, Palace, having struggled to impose themselves early on, almost

FA Cup: Mad minute ruins Fulham dreams

Image
Manchester United 3 - 1 Fulham Fulham had two players and their manager sent off as a crazy minute cost them in their FA Cup match at Old Trafford. Highlights of the match can be found in the video below   The away side had looked on course for only their second last-four appearance since they lost to West Ham in the 1975 final. However, their world collapsed around a handball incident. Just over 20 minutes after Fulham had taken the lead, Jadon Sancho looked like he was about to score an equaliser into an empty net, only for Willian to charge across and clear. The referee had initially given a corner. The sometimes controversial VAR advised the official to check the pitchside monitor, with Willian protesting and manager Silva furious. Two goals from Fernandes (one from the resulting penalty) that were either side of a strike from Marcel Sabitzer gave United the win.  What are the fans saying? We asked a number of fans about they thought about the game. Liam said: "Not the best

Premier League: Entertaining draw at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal 2 - 2 Fulham Fulham earned a point at Arsenal thanks to Joao Palhinha. His first-time finish from a corner in the 87th minute earned the away side this draw.  The away side had Calvin Bassey sent off four minutes before that equaliser after he fouled Eddie Nketiah on the counter-attack. Before 3pm, the Emirates stadium was loud and boisterous before the match kicked off. However, that noise became an almost baffled silence.  Andreas Pereira got Fulham off to a flying start, scoring after just 57 seconds. He latched onto a loose ball from Bukayo Saka and fired in a curling shot with the Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale out of position. After Fabio Vieira was caught by Kenny Tete, Saka equalized from the penalty spot for the Gunners. Nketiah then scored Arsenal's second as they came from behind to take the lead , before Fulham had the final say.  As Fulham fans celebrated at the end of the match, Arsenal fans were perhaps slightly concerned that they are displaying the

Author - Jamie P Brentord had taken the lead with a spectacular first-half strike from Vitaly Janelt, who unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards that seemed fit to settle any game. But with only eight minutes left on the clock, Wilson came on as a substitute and soon worked his magic. He acrobatically flicked the ball over goalkeeper Mark Flekken with the outside of his boot to net his first, then clinched victory in the 97th minute by stooping low to head in a thrilling second. A closer look at what happened Fulham's performance had deserved a positive result, as they came out strong and kept Brentford, known for their fast starts, on the back foot. Cottagers winger Reiss Nelson, making his first Premier League start, forced two saves from Flekken in quick succession, while Emile Smith Rowe also tested the B

Premier League: United start season with a win

Manchester United 1 - 0 Fulham Joshua Zirkzee quickly became an Old Trafford favourite by scoring an 87th-minute winner against Fulham. The former Bologna striker was brought on alongside Alejandro Garnacho after an hour, as United struggled to break down Marco Silva's side. With time running out, the duo combined brilliantly, with the Argentine winger delivering a cross from the right that Zirkzee expertly guided into the bottom corner, dealing a crushing blow to Fulham.United had a slow start, with Andre Onana forced to tip a Kenny Tete effort over the bar early on. But as the match progressed, United posed the greater threat. Fulham's goalkeeper Bernd Leno was in fine form, making three crucial saves to deny United. First, he thwarted Bruno Fernandes , drawing visible frustration from the Portuguese midfielder.  Then, it was Mason Mount's turn. His attempt was also stopped by Leno after a cross from Marcus Rashford. Despite these setbacks, United were determined to

Premier League reaction: Southampton relegated

Image
Southampton 0 - 2 Fulham Let's explore all of the best reaction as Southampton's 11-year stay in the Premier League ended in tame fashion.  Aleksandar Mitrovic, making his return from an eight-game ban for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh, sealed Saints' fate with a stooping header after Carlos Vinicius' opener. You'd have to say it was apt that their relegation should be confirmed at their home ground. They have picked up a poor 10 points out of a possible 57. They will have to improve this form if they want to escape the Championship next season. What did the Southampton boss say? Southampton boss Ruben Selles told BBC Match of the Day: “It is a very tough day – for me, for everybody in the dressing room, for the city, for the fans. It has been a tough season for all of us.  We have been fighting not to be relegated from the very beginning, and the day came today. I just want to say thank you to everybody for the support we felt from the very first day." T

Championship reaction: Fulham 0 - 0 Derby County

Fulham were unable to find a breakthrough in the absence of Aleksandar Mitrovic as they were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom club Derby at Craven Cottage. They were seeking an eighth successive win but they were denied by Wayne Rooney’s side. The home side were left frustrated after being unable to capitalise on a succession of good chances.  Let's have a look at some of the best reaction Wayne Rooney said after the game: “It is a good point, a very difficult game against one of the best teams in the division. Jack Colback scored his first league goal since March 2019 as Forest salvaged a point in a dramatic finish at QPR The home side were poised for a win following Lyndon Dykes' header at the end of a first half. He could have made it a hat-trick after the break, but Brice Samba closed down the space to deny him one on one and Djed Spence produced a brilliant tackle as the striker prepared to shoot. Forest were eventually rewarded for their tenacity when QPR failed to clear with time running out and Colback's fierce left-foot effort found the net with the help of a deflection off Jimmy Dunne. QPR boss Mark Warburton told a local London radio station:  "Second half we had to maintain shape and stop them playing forward and I think we did that, I thought we negated their threat. "We got first contact to their set-pieces all night and in truth, against a very good Forest team, we looked comfortable." The Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper added to BBC Radio Not

The Big Discussion: Can Ipswich Town survive?

Image
Despite a second defeat of the season, there is still plenty of optimism among Ipswich Town fans.  Ipswich took an early lead at the home of the reigning champions, with Sam Szmodics finding the net.  However, their advantage was quickly erased, and the match ultimately ended in a 4-1 victory for Pep Guardiola’s side. Reflecting on last week’s match against Liverpool, where the Reds scored twice in five minutes, the Ipswich manager emphasised the importance of learning to respond better when conceding a goal.
