 Manchester United 0 - 1 Crystal Palace Manchester United suffered their second consecutive home defeat in the Premier League as Crystal Palace secured an impressive victory at Old Trafford, thanks to Joachim Andersen's outstanding strike. These two teams had clashed just five days earlier, with Erik ten Hag's side comfortably winning 3-0 in the Carabao Cup . However, Palace had rested several key players for that match and presented a different challenge on Saturday, delivering an excellent away performance. Palace took the lead after Tyrick Mitchell cleared Rasmus Hojlund's shot off the line. Andersen then brilliantly fired a first-time shot into the top corner from a free-kick. Despite Manchester United's relentless pressure, t hey struggled to breach Palace's defence. Another new signing for Manchester United The £72m (£64 million plus 8 million of add-ons) signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta has been completed by the club. Having joined the Serie A side in 2022, the 20-year-old scored 10 goals in 34 appearances last season. After suffering a small injury during pre-season training with Atalanta, Hojlund will miss the beginning of the 2023-24 season. United kick off the campaign against Wolves on Monday 14th August. This means United will probably start the season with Rashford playing in that more central role.  He was presented to the United fans before their friendly win against Lens. Before Manchester United's friendly with Lens, which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Red Devils, Hojlund received a rapturous reception when he walked out of the players' tunnel.  Manchester United 4 - 2 Sheffield United Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes scored twice to ensure that another chaotic performance ended with a victory against relegation-threatened Sheffield United.  With the visitors taking the lead twice, The Red Devils were on the verge of a humiliating loss to a team that had only won three times this season Fernandes levelled from the penalty spot before driving Manchester United in front from 25 yards nine minutes from time. Four minutes later, the Portuguese created a first goal since February for striker Rasmus Hojlund.  Manchester United are in talks with defender Jonny Evans over extending his stay at the club. The 36-year-old returned to United last summer from Leicester City, eight years after his initial departure from Old Trafford. The Northern Ireland international initially started training with the club during pre-season to maintain his fitness but was handed a one-year deal after impressing Erik ten Hag. Let's explore Manchester United's 2023/2024 season. It was a campaign full of drama. There was a lot of controversy throughout, but it finished with glory as they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.  After being eliminated from the EFL Cup in the fourth round by the previous season's finalists, Newcastle United, they also experienced their worst performance in the Champions League group stage. They then finished in 8th position, their lowest ever place in the Premier League era.  We will now experience some of those key reports and stories from the season. The season started with a 1-0 win over Wolves. In this match, Raphael Varane secured the decisive goal with just 14 minutes remaining, propelling Manchester United to a somewhat lucky victory. It wasn't a great performance though and perhaps a sign of things to come. A few weeks later, they lost 3 - 1 at home to Brighton. After this match, we spoke to Liam, a United Season Ticket holder. Crystal Palace 4 - 0 Manchester United  Crystal Palace sealed their first league double over Manchester United with a deserved and emphatic 4-0 win at Selhurst Park.  Liverpool 0 - 0 Manchester United Manchester United provided a much-needed boost to manager Erik ten Hag's morale by securing a hard-fought draw against Liverpool at Anfield.  This came at a crucial time when the team was grappling with a sense of crisis following a heavy home defeat to Bournemouth and a lacklustre Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich . Manchester United have announced the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea. The 24-year-old midfielder is Ten Hag's first signing of the summer in a transfer deal worth an initial £55m, plus a possible £5m in add-ons.  AFC Bournemouth 0 - 1 Manchester United Manchester United are now only a point from the Champions League after Casemiro's stunning overhead kick edged Manchester United a massive step closer.  In a match that was clear-cut opportunities, a piece of magic from Casemiro proved the difference. The midfielder picked up a beautiful pass from Christian Eriksen and turned away from Marcos Senesi before acrobatically hammering home. As was the case against Wolves last week , United lacked urgency against Bournemouth with Dominic Solanke twice going close and David Brooks forcing a fingertip save from De Gea.
