FA Cup Reaction: A turning point for Manchester United?

Manchester United won the FA Cup, let's explore some of the best reaction from around the world.

It was a great end to the season for Manchester United and a disappointing way for City to finish what has been a successful end to a campaign where they clinched their 4th successive Premier League title.

Reaction from this involved

This is how Erik ten Hag responded to presenters from MUTV. The video was uploaded to the Manchester United YouTube account.

After the match, the Manchester United players published an open letter to the fans. This starts off: "To every Manchester United fan. We all know that this club is special. As we fought to win the FA Cup, the incredible atmosphere you generated inside Wembley helped push us over the line. Celebrating all together was beautiful. Fans, staff, players — all united as one. Those memories will live with us forever.

"It was a further reminder that with your support behind us, and the United badge on our chests, we can achieve great things. You can be sure that we feel immense pride in representing our football club. This shared passion will drive us forward together, back to where this club belongs.  We know how much this club means to so many people — in Manchester and around the world. The backing you have given to us, even during times when we fell short of the standards that we set for ourselves, has been unbelievable."

What are the United fans saying?

Josh, a Manchester United fan from North Manchester, posted on Facebook: "I think that win could prove to be a turning point for this group of players. For all their problems this season, there is a lot of talent in there. the likes of Garnacho and Mainoo are the types of personalities you could build a team around there.

Liam Jones, a Manchester United Season Ticket holder, told us: "The performance demonstrated that they are a stronger team than they have often appeared to be this season, despite the injuries. Consistency is key for them moving forward, and they should build their future around the promising young players who have been the highlight of an otherwise underwhelming season. The manager has just about earned another season in charge."

Olivia Taylor, a United from Chorlton in Greater Manchester, added: "Our attacking players caused City all sorts of problems with their pace in transition, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were both superb at Wembley. Winning the FA Cup against City means a lot and a great way to end the season."

Ken Walker from Glossop, another United fan, told us: "Much of the season has been marked by constant changes in the backline, with a rotating cast of players. Rarely did we see Martinez and Varane together, and even less so with Luke Shaw. Shaw wasn't fit to play at Wembley, but at least we could count on our centre-back pairing. In his last game for the club, Varane reminded us of what we will miss and what we need to replace. His defensive prowess, both in the air and on the ground, was remarkable. He was a titan at the back, rallying everyone, especially after making a crucial intervention. It's that never-say-die spirit he and Martinez embodied last season that we have sorely missed."

"That was an awful performance..." City fans respond

Christie Mackenzie, a Manchester City Season Ticket holder, told us: "That was an awful performance. They were there for the taking but the players didn't show up. The changes we made at halftime probably pointed towards Guardiola getting his tactics wrong."

Bethany, a Manchester City from Stockport, had a similar view: "That was a dreadful performance. The opposition were vulnerable, but our players just didn't turn up. The changes we made at halftime suggest that Guardiola may have got his tactics wrong. Still happy we won the league but it would have been great to make history and win two consecutive doubles."
