Transfer News: Manchester United sign Mason Mount

Manchester United have announced the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old midfielder is Ten Hag's first signing of the summer in a transfer deal worth an initial £55m, plus a possible £5m in add-ons.

Mount has signed a five-year contract with the option for a further year. Chelsea rejected United's first three bids for Mount before an agreement was reached. The London club spent £600m last season and needed to sell to ease reported concerns.

United finished 3rd in the Premier League last season and will to offer a more serious challenge to Man City next season. Mount's ability to operate in advanced positions could make him a very important player for the club.

His highlight for Chelsea was winning and starting for the blues in the Champions League in 2021. He also won the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup with the Stamford Bridge side.
