Premier League: A new low for Manchester United's season

Michael Olise ran 20 yards without any tackle or meaningful challenge to eventually slot beyond Andre Onana and put Oliver Glasner's side in the lead after 13 minutes.

Jean-Philippe Mateta then surged beyond Johnny Evans with relative ease to finish emphatically for his sixth goal in a row in his home stadium. Palace fans were in disbelief at this point.

Palace eased to victory in the second-half

Tyrick Mitchell tapped in from close range after a great cross by Adam Wharton in the 58th minute. The French youngster Olise then capitalised on a Casemiro mistake to score against the United keeper Onana. This was a new low for Manchester United's season. United fans respond

Despite the heavy defeat, those Manchester United fans that made the long trip on a Monday night remained defiant in the face of a heavy defeat. They carried on singing as the goals flew in from Crystal Palace. The fans displayed more fight than the players.

All that being said, an increasing number of fans are becoming more critical of the manager.

Liam, a Manchester United Season Ticket holder, said: "I can't believe I'm saying this, but that was the worst performance of the season. I thought that our players surrendered at Selhurst Park. We had only 12 senior outfield names travelled, but there is no excuse for what became a thrashing."

Josh, another United fan, added: "People have criticised senior players like Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes for their performances this season, but they wouldn't have performed that badly. I know it was a weakened squad, but the under-performers shouldn't escape criticism. They should have all been embarrassed to receive an incredible ovation from United’s first-class away support. They had even been disregarded by the scheduling of the match. However, they still sold out the allocation."
