Premier League: Man United and Leeds United produce a classic

Image
Manchester United 2 - 2 Leeds United Man United fought their way back from being two goals down to take a point against Leeds United at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford and substitute Jadon Sancho levelled Wilfried Gnonto’s first-minute strike and Raphael Varane’s own goal to move Erik ten Hag’s men three points ahead of Newcastle United in the Premier League table. The Reds got back into the game after a difficult 60 minutes. They recovered from the deficit with well-worked counter-attacks and a never-say-die attitude, epitomised by Luke Shaw, who was instrumental in Sancho’s goal to level the clash. After that, United dominated. The Leeds goal lived a charmed life at times. Fred and Fernandes missed efforts that could have brought the Old Trafford house down. Instead, Leeds held out for five minutes of stoppage time, doing well to kill our momentum on occasion, and will be the more pleased of the two sides with the outcome. What will happen when the sides meet again on Sunday? Highl

More reaction from United Manchester United defender Harry Maguire told BT Sport: "It's massive for our season. The last couple of months have been nowhere near good enough and we needed to get a result for our season and our fans. We need to make sure that's just the start and we push on. We need to get back to being solid because if we do that we have every chance to win games when we have him up front." Former Manchester United and current BT Sp

PL: Fernandes shines as Man United beat Leeds

Image
Leeds United 2 - 4 Manchester United Let's check all the reaction as Manchester United survived a second-half scare to win 4-2 at Elland Road. Substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga both found the net in the final 20 minutes. United went into a two-nil lead before the break thanks to goals from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes. However, Leeds responded in the second half. Quickfire goals from both Rodrigo and Raphinha had pulled Marcelo Bielsa's side level before Fred and Elanga ensured all three points returned to Old Trafford. It was Leeds who carved open the first real chance of the game after just five minutes, as Mateusz Klich cleverly found Jack Harrison unmarked with a lofted through pass. He failed to trouble David De Gea and fired his effort wide of the mark. Memorable moments between Leeds United and Manchester United (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Paul Pogba then aimed shortly after, with the Frenchman driving forward from the right before releasing a low drive t

We also showed the qualities we have in our team. It was important today to raise the energy level. "The whole team performance was a lot better, I was pleased with the performances of our wingers. Jadon did well and Mason. Eddie and Cristiano, the work effort was amazing. "I wouldn't say fourth is the minimum. It is about taking next development steps. Now eight games in a row without a defeat. It is about taking next steps." Burnley manager Sean Dyche added the same channel: "We've been here a couple of times and had big results here and not had nowhere near the

Borussia Dortmund 1 - 0 PSG Niclas Fullkrug scored a brilliant goal in the first half as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris St-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. You watch the highlights of the match in the video below. The footage is from the TNT Sports YouTube account. The German international used his right foot to bring down a long ball before firing home with his left foot to give Dortmund a 36th-minute lead. That would prove to be the only goal of the night. After a poor first half which perhaps lacked the quality of the previous night's semi final, PSG missed several chances to equalise in the second. Kylian Mbappe curled an effort off the inside of the post before Achraf Hakimi narrowly missed his chance a few minutes later. There were still opportunities for PSG to equalise and take a 1-1 draw back to Paris buf they lacked a bit of quality at times. Mbappe looked determined throughout and he clearly wants to end his time in France with PSG

PL: Ronaldo breaks record and gives United important win

Image
Manchester United 3 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur A late Cristiano Ronaldo header sealed his hat-trick and gave Manchester United a crucial win in the race for Champions League football. Eight minutes remained when the 37-year-old bulldozed Matt Doherty aside, eyes fixed only on Alex Telles’s corner from the right, and connected his forehead to the ball as he cartwheeled through the air before hitting the turf. There was ecstasy and the ringing out of Viva Ronaldo from home fans. They could not quite believe their hero had done, again, what he loves to do.  Spurs have already beaten Manchester City away this season, so this was not an easy task for United. City 2 - 3 Spurs Ronaldo’s opener lit up the stadium. Raphaël Varane tapped to Fred who backheeled to the No 7. Cue delirium from the Old Trafford faithful and a lift for the United players. Ronaldo started to drop off the front to link with Diogo Dalot, and Paul Pogba forced a save from Lloris. United do this, though. They dominate and

Transfer Rumours: Man United interested in Olise

Image
Another day. Another week. Another Manchester United transfer rumour. Michael Olise is gifted with game-changing qualities that would benefit Manchester United. The Crystal Palace winger also has admirers within the hierarchy at Chelsea and Newcastle United. You can see some of his best moments in the video below. The footage is from the Top Striker YouTube account and gives you a real indication of why the Premier League's biggest clubs are interested in him. Why are United interested? It was his performance in the 4-0 victory over Erik ten Hag’s side that cemented Olise’s reputation as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League. He scored twice and was a threat that United could not contain in that thrashing at Selhurst Park. With Jadon Sancho expected to leave permanently this summer, there could well be space within the squad for another attacking player.  Premier League: Summer 2024 news and stories (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Premier League: Crystal Pala

A brief summary of the match Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi missed two chances in the first half, and striker Niclas Fullkrug struck the post. Real Madrid's recalled goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, was also a formidable barrier. As expected, Real Madrid upped the ante, with Dani Carvajal nodding in a header from a corner 16 minutes from time, followed by Vinicius Jr racing clear to add a second goal. It saw Anthony Elanga ]denied by the head of Jan Oblak from a low Bruno Fernandes cross before Rodrigo De Paul's deflected shot was pushed away by David de Gea. João Félix did have the ball in the net for the visitors, but Marcos Llorente had strayed offside before teeing up the Portuguese striker. It proved a short reprieve for United. João Félix's back-heel released Antoine Griezmann, who stood up an inviting cross to the far post for Renan Lodi to head in. The Red Devils increased the pressure after the break, and nearly levelled when Jadon Sancho's ferocious volley fizzed just over. Mane ended any slim hopes United had of making this a challenging evening for Liverpool with a first-time finish from Diaz's pass in the 69th minute before Salah completed the rout with five minutes left.
