Rashford has been in reasonable form for Aston Villa since joining them on loan for the second half of the season from Manchester United.

While he has impressed at points with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances for Unai Emery's side, his promising start for the club was curtailed by a hamstring injury.

It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa want to make this move permanent. For Rashford, it would be a much more attractive move if they qualify for next season's Champions League.

Barcelona were said to be interested in signing Rashford on loan back in January, but were ultimately beaten to his signature by the Villains. This perhaps is one of the biggest indications of the progress Villa have made in recent seasons.

Barcelona looking to build from a position of strength

After winning back La Liga from Real Madrid, Barca will be looking to go again next season and go one better in the Champions League. Rashford, alongside Luis Diaz from Liverpool, are just two of the many attacking option by explored by Hansi Flick’s side.

Rashford expected to be one of many that leaves the club permanently

United are reportedly set to allow Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho to leave the club permanently after they all temporary switches during the season.

While Rashford has spent the second half of 2024-25 at Villa Park, Sancho was loaned out to Chelsea last summer, with Antony impressing for Europa Conference League finalists Real Betis.

The report also adds that senior figures within the club have been unimpressed with the form of Rasmus Hojlund, another high-profile who looks primed to leave.

United will be without European football next season after losing the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham on Wednesday and will be looking to remove several players from their wage bill.
