Image
Crystal Palace 4 - 2 Wolves Eddie Nketiah struck twice and Eberechi Eze found the net once again as Crystal Palace marked their FA Cup triumph with a lively 4-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Selhurst Park. Author - Craig H Stadium - Selhurst Park The Eagles were still basking in the glow of Saturday’s historic FA Cup final win over Manchester City , the club’s first major trophy, and supporters gave their heroes a rousing reception before kick-off. Even an early setback couldn't dampen the mood, as Emmanuel Agbadou headed Wolves into a surprise lead. Palace, however, responded in style. Nketiah turned the match around with two goals in quick succession before half-time. The former Arsenal striker fired in the equaliser after a clever cutback from Romain Esse, and then added a second moments later by converting Ismaila Sarr’s cross. Ben Chilwell extended the lead after the break, with his free-kick taking a heavy deflection off Agbadou to beat the goalkeeper. Wolves showed...

Palace sweep Villa aside

Image
Crystal Palace 4 - 1 Aston Villa Ismaila Sarr’s brace inspired a ruthless Crystal Palace to sweep aside Aston Villa at Selhurst Park, keeping their push for a top-half Premier League finish on track. Author - Jamie P Stadium - Selhurst Park A closer look at what happened at South London Home form has been a concern for manager Oliver Glasner, with the Eagles securing just two league wins at Selhurst Park before this fixture. However, any concerns pre match vanished very quickly.  Marking his 27th birthday in style, Sarr gave Palace a strong start in the first half. Villa briefly levelled through Morgan Rogers early in the second half, but that only spurred the hosts on to take complete control on a memorable night in SE25. Jean-Philippe Mateta restored Palace’s lead moments later with a superb finish, moving him up to second in the club’s all-time Premier League goalscoring chart with 36 goals. Sarr then grabbed his second of the night before Eddie Nketiah, coming off the benc...

Image
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa preview Crystal Palace and Aston Villa will both be looking to make it successive Premier League victories when they meet at Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening. Author - Peter Grainger Palace, currently 13th in the table, head into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, while Villa, sitting in eighth, edged past Chelsea 2-1 later that day. The Eagles are six points adrift of 10th-placed Fulham, having finished in that position last season. A lack of goals has hampered their progress this term, but there is still plenty of time to turn things around. Oliver Glasner’s side claimed victory at Craven Cottage thanks to a first-half own goal from Joachim Andersen, before Daniel Muñoz secured the points in the 66th minute. That result means Palace have won three of their last four games in all competitions, although all of those victories have come away from home. At Selhurst Park, they have struggled, losing their last two league matches aga...

The result deepened Chelsea’s festive woes, stretching their winless streak to four games and further derailing their fading title ambitions. A closer look at what happemed Palmer’s goal, slotted past Dean Henderson in the 14th minute, was a moment of class. Crystal Palace: 23/24 Season Review

Image
It's time to explore Crystal Palace's 2023/2024 season. It marked Crystal Palace's 118th season and their eleventh consecutive campaign in the Premier League. They also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. It was the first season since 2013–14 without Wilfried Zaha, who departed for Turkish club Galatasaray in the summer, and Scottish midfielder James McArthur, who retired. As a result, Joel Ward was appointed club captain at the beginning of the season, replacing the departed Luka Milivojević. Despite being 15th and just 5 points above the relegation zone in mid-February, the appointment of Oliver Glasner revived the team's fortunes, and a strong finish saw the Eagles equal their highest league finish in the Premier League era. Let's examine some of the moments from another interesting year at Selhurst Park. In September, they were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Manchester United. They were beaten 3-0, and many fans criticised the weakened squad put out.  Un...

Crystal Palace win FA Cup

Image
Crystal Palace 1 - 0 Manchester City  Crystal Palace claimed the first major trophy in their 119-year history with a stunning 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Author - James L Stadium - Wembley Stadium Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal after just 16 minutes, finishing off a rapid counter-attack with a composed strike from Daniel Muñoz’s low cross. It was a moment of brilliance that ultimately proved enough to see off the defending champions. For City, it was a day of deep frustration. Pep Guardiola’s side end the season without silverware for the first time since his debut campaign in 2016–17.  Their mood soured further after a controversial incident in the first half, when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson escaped a red card despite handling outside his area under pressure from Erling Haaland. VAR ruled that Haaland was moving away from goal and had not been denied a clear scoring opportunity. Henderson’s influence only grew from there. He saved a pena...

The Rossoneri are widely expected to part ways with Hernandez this summer, with both Real Madrid and Manchester City expressing strong interest in the French international. While Milan have opened talks with Hernandez over extending his contract, which runs until 2026, negotiations have reached an impasse, making a transfer increasingly likely. PL: Manchester City held by Crystal Palace

Image
Crystal Palace 0 - 0 Manchester City Manchester City missed their chance to go six points clear at the top of the Premier League.  They were held by a resilient Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
