The main talking points
A rare home defeat for Leeds United
Mohammed Kudus scored one and created another as Tottenham ended Leeds United’s year-long unbeaten home run in the league.
Daniel Farke’s side had not lost on their own turf since early September 2024, when Burnley won there in the Championship. But Kudus was the difference on a sodden afternoon in Yorkshire, guiding Spurs back to winning ways after two draws in four days.
Mathys Tel opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, latching on to Kudus’s through ball before unleashing a superb 20-yard strike that took a slight deflection off Pascal Struijk to wrongfoot goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
As the rain began to fall heavily, Kudus restored Tottenham’s lead with a fine finish from the edge of the box, his low shot finding the bottom corner.
United and Amorim get priceless win
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim eased some of the pressure surrounding him with a much-needed victory.
Mason Mount gave United the ideal start, sweeping in after just eight minutes. It was the club’s earliest Premier League goal since Marcus Rashford struck inside two minutes at Ipswich in Amorim’s opening game last November.
Benjamin Sesko doubled the lead with a close-range finish, his second in successive matches, while Amorim was rewarded for handing a debut to £18.1m goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a first clean sheet of the season.

Routine but another welcome win for Arsenal
Arsenal’s impressive start to the season continued with another commanding performance that reflected both their strength in depth and attacking intent. Mikel Arteta opted for a positive line-up featuring Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard and Eberechi Eze in midfield, underlining the options provided by the club’s major summer investment. However, their rhythm was disrupted when Ødegaard was forced off injured for the third home league match in a row.
The reshuffle did little to blunt Arsenal’s dominance. With Rice pushed further forward after Martin Zubimendi’s introduction, the former West Ham captain was on hand to guide in the opener after Eze’s initial effort was saved by Alphonse Areola. West Ham struggled to find any rhythm of their own, restricted to counterattacks that rarely troubled the hosts.
Arsenal tightened their grip in the second half when Jurrien Timber was brought down by El Hadji Malick Diouf, allowing Bukayo Saka to convert the resulting penalty with confidence. It was a landmark afternoon for Saka, who celebrated his 200th Premier League appearance with another decisive contribution. The win moved Arsenal to the top of the table.
Estevao’s late strike gives Chelsea dramatic win
Estevao Willian struck deep into stoppage time to hand Chelsea victory and condemn Liverpool to a third successive defeat in a dramatic finish at Stamford Bridge.
Moises Caicedo had opened the scoring after 14 minutes with a rising 20-yard strike past stand-in goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was deputising for the injured Alisson.
Chelsea remained on top, but Liverpool drew level after 62 minutes when Cody Gakpo reacted sharply to turn in from close range after Alexander Isak touched on Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross.
