The Big Discussion: Can Ipswich Town survive?

Image
Despite a second defeat of the season, there is still plenty of optimism among Ipswich Town fans.  Ipswich took an early lead at the home of the reigning champions, with Sam Szmodics finding the net.  However, their advantage was quickly erased, and the match ultimately ended in a 4-1 victory for Pep Guardiola’s side. Reflecting on last week’s match against Liverpool, where the Reds scored twice in five minutes, the Ipswich manager emphasised the importance of learning to respond better when conceding a goal. Premier League: A pivotal day in the title race

Image
Saturday 25th February is being seen by many as a very important day in the title race. Here's how Arsenal and Man City got on. Leicester City 0 - 1 Arsenal  A 46th-minute goal by Gabriel Martinelli at the King Power Stadium was enough to maintain Arsenal's advantage over Manchester City.  A defeat against a relegation threatened Everton side earlier this month sparked a winless three-game spell that included a loss to City and threatened to blow them off course, but those memories now appear to have been banished. Arsenal defended well when they needed to. It was then over to Man City. One Arsenal fan told us: "This feels like an important win!" Bournemouth 1 - 4 Man City City never looked in danger of dropping more points once Julian Alvarez put them ahead. Erling Haaland looked back to his best and maintained his goal-a-game ratio by tucking home a close-range second for his 27th top-flight goal of the season to end a relatively lean spell of one in six games....

The most dramatic races to the Premier League title

Image
We all love a dramatic end to the season Let's explore some of the best and most iconic title races in the history of English football. Will the 2024 race for the title match any of those listed below? Leicester City, Tottenham and Arsenal in 2016 An odd one to choose perhaps, but this was a fascinating title race. It was a two-horse race for a period, but Spurs finished third. Leicester won the title that season thanks to the form of former Non-League player Jamie Vardy. Many described it as the greatest-ever sporting achievement.  Following this title win, Leicester players struggled to match what they achieved during that season. They were even relegated in 2023. They quickly recovered to win the Championship in 2024, once again being inspired by Vardy. Community Shield: Arsenal win on penalties

Image
Arsenal 1 - 1 Manchester City Arsenal won 4-1 on penalties  The Community Shield victory gave Arsenal's title hopes a psychological boost as they beat Pep Guardiola's side on penalties.
