 Bromley 2 - 2 Solihull Moors

Bromley won 4-3 on penalties

Non League: Bromley promoted to the EFL

Bromley won on penalties against Solihull Moors  to secure a dramatic promotion to the English Football League for the first time in the club's 132-year history.

Captain Byron Webster scored the winning penalty to maintain his 100% winning record at Wembley with four victories.

Bromley took the lead twice through their top scorer Michael Cheek, who calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring. Joe Sbarra equalized for Solihull shortly after the half-time break, but Cheek won and converted a penalty to put his side back in front.

Solihull captain Jamey Osborne then equalised for the Moors once again to send the game into extra time. Neither side managed to find a winner, with Ravens substitute Alex Kirk twice hitting the woodwork.

The game then went to penalties...

Solihull got off to a bad start with Bromley's keeper Grant Smith saving from Tyrese Shade and Joss Labadie. However, Nick Hayes denied Ashley Charles to keep Solihull in contention, but they missed another spot-kick to give Bromley the chance to win the game.

They scored their next three penalties, and Webster stepped up to score the fourth and final penalty to send Bromley up to League Two.

The England manager Gareth Southgate was supporting Bromley.

What are the fans saying?

Paul has supported Bromley for 25 years. He was quite emotional after the match and spoke about how proud he was. Paul said: "We are not the best team, but we are the hardest-working, most honest team with players who will fight for each other. That's what we showed today, and I am incredibly proud of everyone associated with the club. The best day of my life."

@laurencecapel tweeted: "@AndyWoodman is absolutely magic. The work he's done and the commitment he's shown to bring Bromley up is nothing short of fantastic. He had tears celebrating, as did we all. I love this club."

The News Ball Facebook account posted the thoughts of one Bromley fan. "That was tense. I never thought we'd reach the Football League so this is a dream come true for so many people. It will also give the town a huge boost."

Frances Bentley, another Bromley fan, told us: "The great day in the club's history. It was great watching us at Wembley. To see us play at that stadium on a day when we achieved promotion to the Football League is special. I am excited about what the future holds for the club now."
