 It's time to explore the season of each Premier League club. We will start  off  at the bottom with Sheffield United. The 2023–24 season marked the 135th year in Sheffield United’s history and their return to the Premier League after being promoted from the Championship last season. Alongside their league campaign, the club also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On 24 April, they suffered a 4–2 defeat to Manchester United, setting a new record for the most goals conceded in a 38-game Premier League season, surpassing the previous record held by Derby County in the 2007–08 season. Just three days later, a 5–1 loss away to Newcastle United confirmed their relegation back to the Championship. This result left the Blades with 16 points, trailing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest by 10 points, with only three matches left to play.  Everton 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth Everton will extend their unbroken 69-year stay in the English top flight. Last week's dramatic draw at Wolves ultimately gave the Goodison Park side the advantage on the final day.  Premier League: Everton secure dramatic draw against Wolves (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Sean Dyche's side came into the contest with their fate in their own hands, knowing victory would be enough to keep them in the Premier League. However, the nervy hosts struggled to break down their opponents in a tense first half.  Nottingham Forest finished the 2023/2024 season in 17th position. Let's explore their campaign. They successfully avoided relegation to the Championship. This was the 158th season in their history and the second consecutive season in the Premier League. The club also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On 15 January 2024, the Premier League charged Nottingham Forest with breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules. By 18 March, Forest were found guilty and handed a four-point deduction. The club appealed the decision on 26 March, but on 7 May, it was announced that their appeal had failed, and the four-point deduction was upheld. The loss of four points drops Forest into relegation zone Nottingham Forest have been penalised with a deduction of four points for violating the Premier League's profit and sustainability regulations.  An independent commission discovered that the club's losses for the period until 2022-23 exceeded the £61m threshold by £34.5m. As a result, Forest have dropped into the Premier League's relegation zone, falling below Luton Town. Forest are the second team in the Premier League to be punished for breaching the Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) after Everton's loss of 10 points in November.  This was later reduced to six upon appeal. The City Ground club, who are likely to appeal against the ruling, had their hearing on 7-8 March. What are the Profit and Sustainability Regulations? Everton 0 - 3 Manchester United Alejandro Garnacho scored an incredible goal in Manchester United's win against Everton, who were playing their first game after a 10-point deduction.  Video from  Manchester United - YouTube Garnacho's stunning third-minute goal, a bicycle kick, left the Goodison Park crowd in awe, and it came amidst protests from fans against the Premier League's decision to deduct those points. Everton had several chances to level the score in the first half, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being the main threat. However, United's goalkeeper Andre Onana made crucial saves, and Garnacho's goal remained the only highlight of the first half. United introduced 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, who made a clearance off the line. Burnley 0 - 5 Arsenal Following Liverpool's win in the early game against Brentford, The Gunners knew they had to win this match and they duly obliged.  Following their 6-0 victory at West Ham last week , Arsenal were soon among the goals again, with captain Martin Odegaard opening the scoring after four minutes with a precise strike into the bottom corner following Gabriel Martinelli's pass. Bukayo Saka converted from the penalty spot to double the lead after Lorenz Assignon fouled Leandro Trossard in the box. Saka secured his second goal just after the restart as Arsenal maintained the pressure, seizing on a clever pass from Odegaard, cutting inside, and firing a shot into the roof of the net. Havertz's scuffed effort was blocked in the box, but Trossard was alert to curl in his third goal in as many league games. Leeds United have sacked manager Javi Gracia and appointed Sam Allardyce as they try to avoid relegation.  Spaniard Gracia was appointed in February and has been sacked after only 10 weeks and 12 games in charge at Elland Road. We all love a dramatic end to the season Let's explore some of the best and most iconic title races in the history of English football. Will the 2024 race for the title match any of those listed below? Leicester City, Tottenham and Arsenal in 2016 An odd one to choose perhaps, but this was a fascinating title race. It was a two-horse race for a period, but Spurs finished third. Leicester won the title that season thanks to the form of former Non-League player Jamie Vardy. Many described it as the greatest-ever sporting achievement.  Following this title win, Leicester players struggled to match what they achieved during that season. They were even relegated in 2023. They quickly recovered to win the Championship in 2024, once again being inspired by Vardy. Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Wolves  Wilfried Zaha scored a well-taken winner to seal Crystal Palace's terrific turnaround against managerless Wolves.  Picture from Flickr: Credit -  Ben Terrett Before the Zaha show, Adama Traore's header had earned the visitors a deserved half-time lead. This was almost doubled when Ruben Neves hit the post right on the stroke of half-time at Selhurst Park.  The game started to look very different once the second half had started. Palace never looked back once Eberechi Eze nodded them level from Michael Olise's pinpoint cross just 63 seconds into the second half. Zaha then took Odsonne Edouard's pass in his stride before drilling past Jose Sa for his fifth goal of the season to lift Palace up to 10th place in the Premier League table.  Wolves remain 17th and just one point above the relegation places.  Arsenal 5 - 0 Crystal Palace Arsenal revived their pursuit of the Premier League title with an emphatic victory over struggling Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners' aspirations for the top spot had waned towards the close of the previous year, suffering three defeats in their last five Premier League fixtures. However, a rejuvenated Arsenal returned with newfound vigour under the guidance of Mikel Arteta.  Three points were sealed through a Gabriel header, an own goal from Dean Henderson , a composed finish by Leandro Trossard, and two late strikes from Gabriel Martinelli. The first two goals originated from corner kicks, with Gabriel nodding in the opener in the 11th minute. Another set-piece led to the defender's header striking Crystal Palace goalkeeper Henderson, deflecting into the net. Everyone at European Super Football was saddened by the news of the passing of the iconic Kevin Campbell. A striker whose blend of finesse, power, and finishing made him a standout player at several clubs.  Campbell is best remembered for his spells at Arsenal and Everton. At Highbury, he helped The Gunners win the First Division title in 1991 and secured both the FA Cup and League Cup in 1993. He also played a crucial role in Arsenal's victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final against Parma in 1994. Another highlight of Campbell's career was his loan move to Everton from Turkish side Trabzonspor in March 1999. Escaping a difficult stint in Turkey, he scored nine goals in eight games, helping Walter Smith’s team avoid relegation. AFC Bournemouth 4 - 1 Leeds United Bournemouth earned a superb 4-1 win to deepen Leeds' relegation worries. A quick-fire Jefferson Lerma played a key part in lifting his side further away from relegation danger and leaving the visitors a point clear of the drop zone. Fulham 1 - 2 Manchester City Manchester City beat Fulham to return to the top of the Premier League for the first time since February as Erling Haaland scored his 50th goal of the season in all competitions. The home side opened the scoring through a Willian free-kick before strikes from Carlos Vinicius and Tom Cairney raced them into a 3-0 lead at half-time.  Cairney added another in the second half before Harvey Barnes pulled a goal back for the away side, who also saw Jamie Vardy miss a penalty. Preston North End 0 - 3 Leicester City  Two goals from Jamie Vardy helped Leicester City sealed the Championship title as the Foxes cruised to a crowning victory at Preston North End. Leicester kept the majority of possession in the game’s early stages and created the first chance of note in the 15th minute when Freddie Woodman came out to deny Vardy an opening goal. Jamie  Vardy's goals had previously fired the Foxes to a Premier League title and FA Cup glory. He eventually added to his reputation as a Leicester City icon with a goal in each half to take his overall season tally to 20 in all competitions. Kasey McAteer then added a third with for a Leicester side that has almost dominated this match from start to finish.  AFC Bournemouth 0 - 1 Manchester United Manchester United are now only a point from the Champions League after Casemiro's stunning overhead kick edged Manchester United a massive step closer.  In a match that was clear-cut opportunities, a piece of magic from Casemiro proved the difference. The midfielder picked up a beautiful pass from Christian Eriksen and turned away from Marcos Senesi before acrobatically hammering home. As was the case against Wolves last week , United lacked urgency against Bournemouth with Dominic Solanke twice going close and David Brooks forcing a fingertip save from De Gea. They were without their top goal scorer this season, Marcus Rashford , and struggled to mount a serious threat for much of the time after their goal.  Wout Weghorst almost scored late on. Southampton 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest Morgan Gibbs-White netted the decisive goal, securing Nottingham Forest's first win of the new Premier League season at Southampton. His initial header was cleared off the line by Yukinari Sugawara, but the Forest captain quickly reacted to slot home the rebound in the 70th minute. Forest had a chance to go ahead earlier in the match, but debutant Nikola Milenkovic narrowly missed from four yards out, misjudging his shot. Cameron Archer nearly equalised on his home debut for the Saints, but he couldn’t quite connect with Charlie Taylor’s cross, which flashed across the face of the goal. As in their opening defeat to Newcastle, Southampton dominated possession but struggled to create significant chances.
