Premier League: Garnacho stunner helps United to another win

Everton 0 - 3 Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho scored an incredible goal in Manchester United's win against Everton, who were playing their first game after a 10-point deduction.

Garnacho's stunning third-minute goal, a bicycle kick, left the Goodison Park crowd in awe, and it came amidst protests from fans against the Premier League's decision to deduct those points.

Everton had several chances to level the score in the first half, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being the main threat. However, United's goalkeeper Andre Onana made crucial saves, and Garnacho's goal remained the only highlight of the first half.

United introduced 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, who made a clearance off the line. Everton's missed opportunities proved costly as Ashley Young was judged to have fouled Anthony Martial in the box, leading to Marcus Rashford confidently converting the penalty.

Although Fernandes typically takes penalties for United, he handed the responsibility to Rashford, who seized the opportunity to score only his second Premier League goal of the season. Martial later added a third goal, securing United's victory and moving them up to sixth in the Premier League.

Big few weeks coming up for Manchester United

The win was crucial for United. It was their fifth victory in the last six league games, highlighting a clinical edge that had been missing in their previous narrow victories this season. Rashford's successful penalty and Martial's goal provided a much-needed boost for United's attacking confidence.

Overall, Garnacho's spectacular goal stole the show, drawing comparisons to Wayne Rooney's iconic overhead kick against Manchester City in 2011. Despite an unconventional performance, United left Goodison Park with three points, somehow maintaining a pursuit of the league leaders, Arsenal.

We doubt fans will be dreaming of the title yet but things suddenly look a lot better. They now face a huge Champions League match against Galatasaray.

United legend and SkySports pundit Gary Neville gave his thoughts after the match.

Defiance turns to despair for Everton fans

This was meant to be Everton's day of defiance, a spirited response from the team and their fans following the recent, unprecedented sporting penalty in Premier League history. Supporters flocked to the stadium in large numbers, expressing their discontent with deafening jeers during the Premier League anthem, all to try and propel their team towards recovery.

The revival took a hit with Garnacho's goal, leading to Sean Dyche's side eventually losing their fifth home game out of seven this season. Despite the points deduction, there has been optimism from pundits and fans about Everton's survival in the top flight. The improved form of Luton and Bournemouth, both now clear of the relegation zone raises significant concerns for Everton.

Striker Calvert-Lewin missed opportunities, with a low effort and towering header easily handled by Onana, who also made a sharp save from a poked shot. Idrissa Gueye further tested the goalkeeper in the second half, and when Mykolenko's strike beat Onana, it struck the crossbar.

The defeat marked Everton's 11th home league loss in the calendar year, setting a club record. With a trip to Nottingham Forest looming on Saturday, Everton is well aware of the urgency to return to winning ways promptly to avoid falling further into the bottom three.
