Another new signing for Manchester United The £72m (£64 million plus 8 million of add-ons) signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta has been completed by the club. Having joined the Serie A side in 2022, the 20-year-old scored 10 goals in 34 appearances last season. After suffering a small injury during pre-season training with Atalanta, Hojlund will miss the beginning of the 2023-24 season. United kick off the campaign against Wolves on Monday 14th August. This means United will probably start the season with Rashford playing in that more central role.  He was presented to the United fans before their friendly win against Lens.  Brighton & Hove Albion 0 - 2 Manchester United Rasmus Hojlund and Diogo Dalot helped Manchester United  conclude  their league campaign with a 2-0 victory over Brighton. Despite the win, Erik ten Hag's side finished the campaign in eighth place – their lowest top-flight position since 1989-90. Brighton, on the other hand, couldn't provide the perfect send-off for departing boss Roberto De Zerbi, despite having better chances and dominating possession. Adam Webster and Joao Pedro came closest to putting the Seagulls ahead in the first half, but neither had the clinical edge to beat Andre Onana. As a player, he played as a centre-back and is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation. A brief introduction Stam played for several European clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lazio, Milan and Ajax. More icons The start of a fantastic career On August 15th 1992, Stam made his professional debut for FC Zwolle in a 1–1 draw against SC Heracles in the Eerste Divisie.
