PL: Leicester City get revenge on Liverpool

Image
Leicester City 1 - 0 Liverpool Ademola Lookman scored the only goal of the match as Leicester City beat Liverpool. This leaves the Reds six points off the top of the Premier League table. Liverpool's best chances came in the first half when Mohamed Salah had a penalty saved by Kasper Schmeichel and the Egyptian headed the rebound off the bar. Sadio Mane then wasted a couple of chances for Jurgen Klopp's side. The 2020 Premier League champions were made to pay by the hosts in the 59th minute. Lookman, with only his fourth touch after coming on, took Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's pass in his stride, beat Liverpool's Joel Matip and fired a shot past Alisson. This was Leicester's only shot on target. Leicester hung on despite the relentless late Liverpool pressure. This all came just six days after blowing a 3-1 lead to lose on penalties against the same opposition in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. This result was all the more remarkable given the home side's

EFL: Another twist in the promotion race

Image
Leicester City 1 - 1 Ipswich Town Jeremy Sarmiento scored a late equaliser against Championship leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and guided his Ipswich team back into the coveted automatic promotion spots. Initially, Leicester seemed on the verge of extending their lead by 10 points , courtesy of an own goal by Leif Davis in the first half. The second half had more excitement, featuring Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen's spectacular save from Wes Burns and Kasey McAteer's valiant effort cleared off the line at the other end. When Hermansen could only parry a Massimo Luongo shot in the area, Brighton loanee Sarmiento seized the opportunity, swiftly scoring a shot that eluded the Danish goalkeeper. This marked the second time in four weeks that Ipswich snatched a late draw against Leicester, following a similar feat on Boxing Day at Portman Road. The draw this time elevated Ipswich above Southampton, reclaiming second place, while Leicester maintained a seven-poi

EFL Cup: Leicester squeeze through on penalties

Image
Walsall 0 - 0 Leicester City (Leicester City won 3-0 on penalties) Leicester City narrowly advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, overcoming a determined Walsall side on penalties. Despite being from League Two, Walsall created the better chances during the 90 minutes, but Charlie Lakin and experienced forward Albert Adomah couldn’t capitalise on the best of them. Leicester’s goalkeeper, Danny Ward, became the hero in the shootout, saving all three of Walsall’s penalties, helping Steve Cooper’s team scrape through after a major scare. A closer look at what happened at the Bescot Stadium Cooper made 10 changes for the trip across the Midlands, with Jamie Vardy, Stephy Mavididi, Harry Winks, and Wilfred Ndidi all left out of the squad. The reshuffled team struggled to find rhythm, and it wasn’t until Abdul Fatawu’s skilful runs in the second half that Leicester began to trouble the hosts. He created two good chances but missed both, and later delivered the cross that led to

PL: Manchester City 6-3 Leicester City

It was a thrilling Boxing Day afternoon at Etihad Stadium Manchester City clinched a ninth successive Premier League win in thrilling style. Leicester had other ideas and came back thrillingly. They scored three goals in the space of 10 second-half minutes from James Maddison, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho giving them hope. A header by Aymeric Laporte restored order and gave the home side breathing space. Sterling's second goal made sure of the points late on. The most dramatic races to the Premier League title

Image
We all love a dramatic end to the season Let's explore some of the best and most iconic title races in the history of English football. Will the 2024 race for the title match any of those listed below? Leicester City, Tottenham and Arsenal in 2016 An odd one to choose perhaps, but this was a fascinating title race. It was a two-horse race for a period, but Spurs finished third. Leicester won the title that season thanks to the form of former Non-League player Jamie Vardy. Many described it as the greatest-ever sporting achievement.  Following this title win, Leicester players struggled to match what they achieved during that season. They were even relegated in 2023. They quickly recovered to win the Championship in 2024, once again being inspired by Vardy. EFL: Foxes start season with a win

Image
Leicester City 2 - 1 Coventry City Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struck two late goals as the relegated Foxes began their life back in the Championship by beating Coventry City. Last season's beaten Championship play-off finalists looked on course for three points when they led through Kyle McFadzean's 47th-minute opener from a corner. The Gus Hamer-inspired Sky Blues also wasted good chances either side of the City skipper's strike. They often looked the better side and really should have made it 2-0. Mark Robins' men were eventually made to pay when Dewsbury-Hall levelled on 77 minutes before being fed by new signing Stephy Mavididi to curl home an 87th-minute winner - and earn victory for new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca, in his first game in charge. Mark Robins will have seen enough from his side to give him positive thoughts and a lot of confidence for the next 45 league matches. Find more news from the English Football League here. FA Cup: Blackburn shock Leicester

Image
Leicester City 1 - 2 Blackburn Rovers Championship promotion contenders Blackburn Rovers caused an FA Cup fifth-round upset by stunning 2021 cup winners Leicester City. Backburn's dynamic display, in which they should have scored more goals, gave them a place in the last eight for the first time in eight years. Having been denied by Daniel Iversen's flying save, Tyrhys Dolan curled past Leicester's Danish goalkeeper for the opener. Ryan Hedges then missed a gilt-edged opportunity to double the visiting side's lead at the start of the second period when he failed to hit the target from 10 yards out. This didn't prove costly as Sammie Szmodics wriggled clear to convert Rovers' second in the 52nd minute, while the midfielder also had a goal ruled out for offside. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for the Foxes by slotting in from close range. However, it wasn't enough. Many fans would have thought there was a good opportunity of a cup run there.

FA Cup: Chelsea see off Leicester City

Image
Chelsea 4 - 2 Leicester City Chelsea narrowly avoided a major upset against Leicester City to secure their place in the FA Cup semi-finals, thanks to two stoppage-time goals.  The Foxes were trailing 2-0 until an own goal by Axel Disasi from 35 yards out brought them back into the game. Stephy Mavididi then scored a fantastic equaliser for the visitors, which led to a tense atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, with the home fans voicing their displeasure with manager Mauricio Pochettino.  However, late goals from substitutes Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke secured the win for Chelsea in a dramatic second half. A red card with 17 minutes to go for Leicester defender Callum Doyle proved crucial. He fouled Nicolas Jackson and, having been initially been shown a yellow card and a penalty given, the video assistant referee ruled the foul was outside of the box but upgraded his yellow to red. Chelsea maintained constant pressure throughout the remainder of the game. In the end, Chukwueme

Premier League News: Brendan Rodgers sacked by Leicester City

The statement reads: "It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan's management. Premier League: Bournemouth carry on impressive form

AFC Bournemouth 2 - 1 Leicester City Gary O'Neil enhanced his credentials to become the next permanent Bournemouth manager after leading his side to victory over Leicester City.  Since succeeding Scott Parker, O'Neil has overseen a five-game unbeaten run. This fine win comes after another outstanding comeback against Nottingham Forest last month. Highlights from  AFC Bournemouth - YouTube Although he plays it down when asked, it is increasingly hard to ignore the body of work he is creating at Bournemouth. In terms of the match, Patson Daka's opener gave Leicester some early control, but they failed to capitalise and had no answer to a rousing reply from Bournemouth in the second half. Philip Billing thrashed home a superb volley to level the scores before Ryan Christie touched in Dominic Solanke's knock-down five minutes later to complete the revival. Jamie Vardy came on from the bench to inject urgency into Leicester's play. He went close with a couple of cro

Tottenham thrash City

Manchester City 0 - 4 Tottenham Hotspur A remarkable evening in Manchester. Who saw this result coming? James Maddison netted a brace as Tottenham swept past Manchester City, handing them a fifth consecutive defeat – a streak they hadn’t endured since 2006. Author - Macca Pedro Porro smashed in a third, and Brennan Johnson sealed the victory with a last-minute fourth on a remarkable night that saw City’s 52-match unbeaten run at the Etihad come to an end. That streak had stretched back to just before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This was City’s heaviest home defeat since their 5-1 drubbing by Arsenal in 2003. It also marked the first time Pep Guardiola’s side had suffered three consecutive Premier League defeats under his leadership, just 48 hours after he signed a new two-year contract extension. For Spurs, it was a stunning turnaround. Despite being without both first-choice centre-backs, fielding five teenagers on the bench, and coming off a 2-1 home loss to Ipswich two weeks ag
