EFL: Foxes start season with a win

 Leicester City 2 - 1 Coventry City

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struck two late goals as the relegated Foxes began their life back in the Championship by beating Coventry City.

Leicester 2 - 1 Coventry

Last season's beaten Championship play-off finalists looked on course for three points when they led through Kyle McFadzean's 47th-minute opener from a corner.

The Gus Hamer-inspired Sky Blues also wasted good chances either side of the City skipper's strike. They often looked the better side and really should have made it 2-0.

Mark Robins' men were eventually made to pay when Dewsbury-Hall levelled on 77 minutes before being fed by new signing Stephy Mavididi to curl home an 87th-minute winner - and earn victory for new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca, in his first game in charge.

Mark Robins will have seen enough from his side to give him positive thoughts and a lot of confidence for the next 45 league matches.

Fan comments

Steve. a Coventry fan, was pleased with some aspects of their performance. He told us: "We have gone toe-to-toe with Leicester, a team that have been relegated from the Premier League. Aside from the two goals and the Kasey McAteer chance just before half-time, we were the better team for most of the match."

Matt, a Leicester Season Ticket holder, was delighted with the win. He added: "I thought it wasn't going to be our afternoon when they went behind and the players didn't fold like they often did in the pre-season matches. The second-half performance from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. He delivered superbly as he drove us on, not just with the two goals but with his overall performance."

Todd was a neutral fan watching the match and he enjoyed it. Todd tweeted: "It was great to see a winning start from the Foxes using all that Championship know-how. You’re my pick for the top this season.  Way to go guys. Unlucky Sky Blues!"

The official Coventry Twitter account posted: "Top effort, but City fall just short this time."

Will King is a Coventry fan. He replied: "Onwards. Very very encouraging!  The journey has started."

Thomas Jacobs, a Coventry fan, was also encouraged by his side's performance despite the losing start to the season. Tom said: "Sad we didn't get at least a point but I'm confident that we can have another great season."

It will be interesting to see how both teams develop over the next few months. You'd have to argue that they both have a great chance of promotion.

Player of the match was an obvious choice

Almost 88% of the Leicester fans that answered the question below believed that the Foxes goalscorer was the best player on the pitch. Wout Faes and Stephy Mavididi also impressed some of their fans.

What's next for the two sides?

Leicester now face two away tests. They can look forward to an EFL Cup derby at Burton Albion before next Saturday's trip to Huddersfield. Coventry have a trip to Wimbledon in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night before hosting Middlesbrough.
