Cardiff City appoint Interim Manager

Image
Will this announcement mark an end to some of the uncertainty? The club have confirmed Omer Riza as their manager on a deal lasting until the end of the season. Author - Jamie P Riza, previously a coach at Watford, stepped in as interim boss after Erol Bulut was dismissed in September following the club’s worst start to a league campaign. Since then, Riza has guided the team to a noticeable improvement, collecting 16 points from 12 games and adopting a more attack-minded approach. However, the Bluebirds have struggled recently, failing to win any of their last five matches, leaving fans concerned about the ongoing uncertainty around the managerial role. Riza initially joined Cardiff as an assistant coach at the start of the season but was promoted to interim manager on 22 September when Bulut was sacked. He made an encouraging start, winning four of his first seven games, but the club's leadership took over two months to settle on a permanent appointment, drawing criticism from...

Championship: Bristol City rescue point in Severnside derby

Image
Bristol City 1 - 1 Cardiff City Luke McNally's powerful header earned Bristol City a hard-fought point in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Cardiff in the Severnside derby. Cardiff's Anwar El Ghazi came close to scoring in the first half, hitting the post from close range in what was otherwise a period dominated by Bristol City. However, it was Cardiff who took the lead after the break, with Ollie Tanner producing a moment of magic—beating two defenders and smashing the ball into the top corner after Bristol City carelessly lost possession. Cardiff had chances to extend their lead but were wasteful, and they paid the price when McNally headed in the equaliser on 73 minutes. This came after Fally Mayulu hit the post, and Cardiff struggled to clear the resulting pressure fully. A draw seemed a fair outcome, though it did little to boost either side’s momentum ahead of the international break. Both teams have had underwhelming seasons, with Bristol City sitting 17th in the Champio...

EFL: Cardiff City get late winner

Image
Cardiff City 1 - 0 Reading Cardiff City's recent mini-revival under new boss Sabri Lamouchi continued thanks to a later winner against Reading. Romaine Sawyers fired in from the edge of the box in the 91st minute to claim a deserved win. This was the club's second in a week under their new manager. A first home win since October lifts the Bluebirds five points clear of the Championship relegation zone. Reading will stay 15th in the table but could have no complaint over the loss despite the timing of the goal. A closer look at the match The closest Reading came was a blunder by Cardiff goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who kicked thin air as Yakou Meite closed in. Cardiff must have thought their luck was out when they hit the crossbar twice in the space of three minutes midway through the second half. But Sawyers capped an impressive display with his first goal since August to claim three vital points in his side's fight for survival. Click here for more EFL News>>> Both...

Stadium - Swansea.com Stadium Liam Cullen had ignited the already charged atmosphere by putting the Swans ahead after just 10 minutes, capitalising on a rebound after Ronald’s volley was parried by Ethan Horvath. The 79th-minute goal shifted the mood inside the Swansea.com Stadium. Sheffield United keep automatic promotion hopes alive

Image
Sheffield United 2 - 0 Cardiff City Sheffield United kept their slim hopes of automatic promotion alive with a hard-earned win that deepened Cardiff City's relegation fears. Author - Tom Parker Stadium - Bramall Lane Gustavo Hamer, one of the Championship’s standout players this season, gave the Blades the lead with a sharp first-half finish, reacting quickest after Tyrese Campbell’s shot took a couple of deflections and landed kindly at his feet. The Brazilian midfielder also struck the woodwork with a well-hit free-kick as United created the better chances in what was a tight, nervy affair. Cardiff worked tirelessly but lacked the cutting edge to force a way back into the match. Their chances of a late rally were dashed when Ben Brereton Díaz turned home from close range with three minutes remaining, sealing the points for Chris Wilder’s side. The win ends a three-game losing run for United, a spell that had left them trailing Leeds United and Burnley in the race for promotio...
