EFL Cup: Blackburn triumph in all Championship clash

 Blackburn Rovers 5 - 2 Cardiff City

Blackburn Rovers beat Cardiff City 5-2 to reach the Carabao Cup round four as teenager Andrew Moran scored twice.

Jake Garrett was delighted with result and perfornance

Blackburn led twice in the first half, through Jake Garrett and Arnor Sigurdsson, before Callum Robinson and Kion Etete helped the Welsh side rally.

Callum Robinson, the former Tottenham striker, showcased his prowess by skillfully finding the back of the net, tallying his fourth goal this season, surpassing his previous season's total.

As the game progressed, Blackburn's third goal was handed to them on a silver platter. Jonathan Panzo, making his first Cardiff start, made a crucial mistake in his own area, allowing Moran to stroll in and effortlessly slot the ball past the helpless Alex Runarsson.

Moran continued to shine, winning a penalty after being brought down by Ebou Adams. Unfortunately for Blackburn, Sigurdsson's spot-kick was expertly saved by Runarsson. However, Moran wasted no time in bouncing back, netting his second senior goal just five minutes after his first with a precise strike from outside the box.

Moran's goals came on either side of Sigurdsson's missed penalty, firmly establishing Blackburn's control over the match. Dilan Markanday's well-placed finish put the nail in the coffin for any hopes of a Cardiff City revival.

Blackburn Rovers, known for their attacking prowess, have advanced to the Carabao Cup's last 16 for the second consecutive year, displaying resilience after two consecutive Championship defeats.
