The 38-year-old took over the managerial role on 11 October following the contentious choice to remove John Eustace , with the team positioned sixth in the table at that time. However, the team's performance has seen a decline, now standing at 20th place. The recent 3-0 defeat to Leeds on Monday marked the ninth loss during Rooney's 15-game tenure. Chelsea have made another signing. Will this be the last big announcement from the club before the transfer window closes? Chelsea have signed French centre-back Wesley Fofana from Leicester City on a seven-year deal for a fee in the region of £70m. France Under-21 international Fofana has made 37 Premier League appearances since joining Leicester from French side Saint-Etienne in 2020. Premier League rumours Many reports indicate that Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United but he does not want to go out on loan to another English club. Barcelona, Sevilla and Juventus are three options for a January move. What legacy will Martial leave at Manchester if he does leave? Manchester United are reportedly targeting Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John McGinn in the summer transfer window. They are also leading Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio, but the Serie A club will demand at least £66.8m. Aston Villa have secured the signing of midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton in a £50m deal. The 22-year-old played every minute of Belgium's Euro 2024 campaign and now has the chance to showcase his talent for Villa in the upcoming Champions League season. Onana joined Everton from Lille for £33m in 2022 and made 72 appearances for the Toffees, netting four goals. Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven. The deal is worth £35.4m-£44.3m and the Eredivisie club say it is a record transfer fee for them. He is their first signing of what is expected to be a busy transfer window and the first player brought in by Eddie Howe.
