Transfer gossip and more: 30/12/21

The January transfer window is approaching.

As expected, the number of rumours about the latest transfers have exploded. Let's have a look at the best of them.

January transfer rumours

Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund will look to put together a deal to try to persuade Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland to stay with them. The 21-year-old's future at the club set to be decided by the end of February.

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Leeds United's Raphinha. Despite rumours suggesting otherwise, it has been reported that no agreement has yet been made and he could easily end up signing for Liverpool.

Premier League

Newcastle United hope to complete a deal to bring in Atletico Madrid and England right-back Kieran Trippier next week and, after an injury to Callum Wilson, they will also try to sign a forward over the next few weeks.

Chelsea have asked about the availability of France left-back Theo Hernandez, who AC Milan will not consider selling for less than 60m euros. Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix, Fenerbahce's Attila Szalai, and Sevilla'sJules Kounde are also among the defenders Chelsea could target in January.

Manchester City will wait until the summer to add a striker to their ranks, with the club retaining an interest in Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane and also having Haaland among their list of targets. Mbappe is also someone that City and their manager are interested in.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has told England keeper Dean Henderson he will not be allowed to leave the club in January, with Tottenham monitoring the 24-year-old's situation. In terms of players coming in, Rangnick could look to Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, potentially available for £30m, to solve his side's defensive problems.

La Liga

Barcelona's hopes of extending France winger Ousmane Dembele's contract have suffered a blow with talks having broken down. The 24-year-old's current deal runs out in the summer. They also want to sign Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani but the Uruguayan is expected to stay at Old Trafford until the end of the current campaign.

It has been reported in media outlets across Europe that Real Madrid have moved a step closer to the transfer of Antonio Rudiger by bettering Chelsea’s salary offer. The defender has also been linked with a move to Manchester United but many believe Rudiger prefers a potential transfer to La Liga.

Ligue 1

Paris St-Germain still believe they can tie France forward Kylian Mbappe to a new deal. The 23-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is free to negotiate with clubs outside France from January.
