Toothless Toffees Without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton had no major threat in attack. However, they almost took the lead through a James Tarkowski header that struck a post. This was 15 seconds before Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead with Jordan Pickford going awol in his penalty area.  Ultimately, it was very comfortable for Liverpool The game petered out the longer the half went on. Everton saw more of the ball but without being able to convert it into tangible efforts on goal. Brighton's great start to the Premier League season continued as they held off a late Leicester City rally to move up the table. The away side thought they had rescued a point in the closing stages but Ademola Lookman and Wilfred Ndidi both saw goals chalked off for Harvey Barnes straying offside. Brighton dominated the opening hour of the match but  they needed a controversial penalty to set them on their way, Neal Maupay scoring his third goal of the season from the spot after Jannik Vestergaard's handball. Everton 2-3 Brighton Brighton have piled more pressure on Rafael Benitez as they climbed to eighth in the Premier League with victory at Goodison Park. Alexis Mac Allister scored a third-minute opener for the visitors following Neal Maupay's cushioned header and Dan Burn headed in when unmarked at the back post to double the lead just before the half-hour mark. The returning Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the chance to respond from the penalty spot. However, he fired his spot-kick over. Half-time was met by thousands of boos from home fans. Gordon gave his side hope of a fightback with a deflected shot eight minutes after half-time.  Manchester United 2 - 1 Brentford Manchester United pulled off a stunning comeback victory against Brentford at Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay emerging as the hero in stoppage time.  Initially, it seemed like Manchester United might suffer their third consecutive home league defeat for the first time since 1979, all thanks to Mathias Jensen's first-half goal. McTominay was a late substitute, coming on with only three minutes left on the clock as manager Erik ten Hag desperately searched for a lifeline. And the Scottish midfielder delivered spectacularly. He displayed impeccable control before slamming the ball into the net when Kristoffer Ajer mishandled a clearance inside his penalty area for the first goal. Leicester City 2 - 2 Everton Leicester City and Everton had to settle for a draw after a chaotic 90+ minutes that leaves teams both in deep trouble at the wrong end of the Premier League table. This breathless encounter came after a dramatic Sunday. How important could these two days prove to be come the end of the season.
