Image
Liverpool 2 - 1 Chelsea Arne Slot's outstanding start as Liverpool manager continued as his side saw off a clearly improved Chelsea at Anfield. Premier League: United battle to hold Liverpool

Image
Liverpool 0 - 0 Manchester United Manchester United provided a much-needed boost to manager Erik ten Hag's morale by securing a hard-fought draw against Liverpool at Anfield.  This came at a crucial time when the team was grappling with a sense of crisis following a heavy home defeat to Bournemouth and a lacklustre Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich . Despite facing adversity and an injury-hit squad, United managed to halt their recent decline, albeit with a less-than-stellar performance.  The match, marred by mediocrity, saw Diogo Dalot being sent off for dissent in stoppage time. Nevertheless, Ten Hag had reasons to smile, contrasting with the disappointment felt by Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, whose team missed an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League. United goalkeeper Andre Onana made a crucial save in the first half, denying Virgil van Dijk, while Rasmus Hojlund had a promising chance in the second half, only to be thwarted by ...

Premier League: Forest stun Liverpool

Image
Liverpool 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest Callum Hudson-Odoi and an unbeaten Nottingham Forest shocked Liverpool at Anfield, putting an end to Arne Slot's flawless start as Liverpool manager. Coming off the bench, Hudson-Odoi cut in from the left and curled a perfectly placed shot into the far bottom corner, leaving Alisson with no chance. This marked Forest's first win at Anfield in any competition since 1969. Liverpool had come into the game brimming with confidence, having secured three consecutive wins without conceding a goal. And the home side certainly had the better opportunities in the first half. Luis Diaz came closest for the hosts before the break, chasing down what seemed a lost cause, cutting inside, and smashing a shot against the near post from a tight angle. Forest keeper Matz Sels made an important save to deny Alexis Mac Allister's header and had a lucky escape when he almost let Diaz’s shot slip into his own net moments later. After the break, Forest showed...

Determined to put Everton’s dramatic 98th-minute equaliser behind them, Liverpool started brightly at Anfield and took the lead after 15 minutes, thanks to Luis DĂaz’s persistence. The Colombian ended a 10-game goal drought by bundling the ball over the line after Salah’s pass was deflected in the box by Wolves defender Toti Gomes. Liverpool doubled their advantage 22 minutes later when referee Simon Hooper awarded a penalty after Wolves keeper JosĂ© Sá brought ...

What's going wrong for Manchester City?

Image
Liverpool 2 - 0 Manchester City Liverpool increased their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points and added to the woes of fading champions Manchester City with a thoroughly deserved victory at Anfield. Author - Macca City fell behind on 12 minutes to a Cody Gapko goal and withstood further pressure from the home side, but dug in and went into break trailing only 1-0. The blues were much more cohesive in the second-half. However, their failure to create any clearcut opportunities was eventually punished by a Mo Salah penalty on 78 minutes. Pep Guardiola made a cheeky gesture towards Liverpool fans, raising six fingers to signify his Premier League title haul, as they gleefully belted out "sacked in the morning" near the end of the match. Premier League: 2024/2025 season The idea of Guardiola facing the sack is, of course, absurd. In a show of mutual respect, he applauded the Liverpool supporters at full-time, and they responded in kind. However, this was an...

An exciting player that was loved by everyone

Image
Everyone at European Super Football was saddened by the news of the passing of the iconic Kevin Campbell. A striker whose blend of finesse, power, and finishing made him a standout player at several clubs.  Campbell is best remembered for his spells at Arsenal and Everton. At Highbury, he helped The Gunners win the First Division title in 1991 and secured both the FA Cup and League Cup in 1993. He also played a crucial role in Arsenal's victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final against Parma in 1994. Another highlight of Campbell's career was his loan move to Everton from Turkish side Trabzonspor in March 1999. Escaping a difficult stint in Turkey, he scored nine goals in eight games, helping Walter Smith’s team avoid relegation. Campbell's popularity soared at Everton, especially after he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield in September 1999. This victory was particularly memorable as it marked the last time Everton won at An...

Premier League: Liverpool 2 - 2 Manchester City

Image
Liverpool and Manchester City produced the game of the season so far with an absorbing encounter at Anfield. All four goals came in the second 45 minutes with City twice pegging Liverpool back. You can see some of the best moments from the game in the video below. Both teams will ultimately feel they might have won this game. Manchester City’s attack looks like it can cause problems for any team in the world but you'd still have to wonder if City's main weakness is their lack of an out and out striker.  There was some top-class football on show from both sides but there were some controversial moments. James Milner will know he was extremely lucky not to be sent off here for persistent fouling before he was eventually substituted just after 70 minutes.  Reaction from the men in charge The Liverpool manager said after the match:  "Probably less than average, we were too passive with and without the ball and played right into City's hands. That was the worst half we ha...

After their 5-0 win at Old Trafford in October , Liverpool are the f...

UEL: Liverpool shocked by Italian side

Image
Liverpool 0 - 3 Atalanta A few weeks ago, Liverpool fans were dreaming of 4 trophies. This time next week, there's every chance that they will only be fighting to add the Premier League to their Carabao Cup.  The Anfield side faces a huge battle to stay in the Europa League after suffering a home defeat to Atalanta in the quarter-final first leg.  Let's explore what happened.  The former West Ham United forward Gianluca Scamacca scored in each half. Ex-Chelsea player Mario Pasalic added a late third goal to ensure the Italians start strong favourites to reach the semi-finals when the sides meet in the return leg in Bergamo.  After a fairly open first 30 minutes or so, Scamacca managed to break the deadlock in the 38th minute after Caoimhin Kelleher allowed his low drive to creep under him. On a deeply frustrating night for below-par Liverpool, Darwin Nunez missed two big chances to give Liverpool a foothold in the match. Harvey Elliott's curling attempt som...

Opnion: Stop exploiting the loyalty of fans

Ticket prices are too high  Enough is enough Author - Olivia T It has been another fantastic Premier League season so far.  However, the excitement of what’s shaping up to be an enthralling campaign has been overshadowed by constant news of price increases for fans. The recent announcement that Manchester United will charge a flat price of £66 to all Members for tickets to the remaining matches this season has enraged everyone at European Super Football. This anger has been further fuelled by the revelation that this exorbitant price will apply equally to adults, children, and seniors, regardless of where you sit in the ground. At Anfield, the Spirit of Shankly group and other Liverpool fans have protested against their own club’s recent ticket price hikes.  One Liverpool supporter told us: “That news came in t...
