There's been a huge shock at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup

Image
Rangers 0 - 1 Queen's Park Championship side Queen’s Park pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Scottish Cup history by knocking Rangers out of the competition in their last-16 clash at Ibrox. Author - Mark Lee Stadium - Ibrox The shock result is set to have major repercussions for Rangers boss Philippe Clement, as it marks the first time since the 1966-67 season that the club has been eliminated from the Scottish Cup by lower-league opposition. The hero of the day was Queen’s Park goalkeeper Calum Ferrie, who produced a dramatic stoppage-time penalty save to deny James Tavernier and seal a historic victory. It had been 142 years since Queen’s Park last beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup, with their previous success coming in 1882 during the second round of the "Glasgow and Suburbs" section. Now, Scotland’s oldest league club have booked their place in the quarter-finals for the first time since 1983. Their match-winner in 2025 was Seb Drozd, who capitalised on Ranger...

Scotland: Celtic win first Glasgow Derby of the season

Image

It wasn't pretty at times, but everyone associa...

After a promising second season in the Premier League, Villa have struggled at times this campaign. They did however pick up a memorable win at Old Trafford, their highlight of a relatively disappointing season so far. Let's have a look at some the best reaction One Aston Villa spoke with the blog this morning and said: "This is a wonderful appointment for the club. The Liverpool and now Rangers connection with Gerrard is very interesting and could potentially be a selling point, as we try and attract some big signings to the club. If we can build on the success of the wonderful Dean Smith, I think good times will soon return to Villa Park." PSV 5 - 1 Rangers (PSV won 7-3 on aggregate) A 5-1 demolition by PSV Eindhoven ended Rangers' hopes of playing in the Champions League again. Ismael Saibari headed in to put PSV ahead on aggregate for the first time in the tie. He added a second after the break. In the minutes following James Tavernier's strike and a brief Rangers lifeline, Luuk de Jong nodded home before Joey Veerman added another goal. Rangers' chastening evening was completed by an own goal by Connor Goldson. This result and poor performance means that instead of joining their Old Firm rivals in the Champions League, they will return to the Europa League group stage. One Rangers fan told us: "This was a terrible night and performance but being in the Europa League might be good for us." Click here for more PSV news and stories. Pressure builds on Rangers boss

Image
Rangers 1 - 1 Dundee United Vaclav Černy’s equaliser cancelled out Sam Dalby’s opener, but Rangers couldn’t find the winning goal that would have brought them within six points of Aberdeen and six clear of United. Author - Mark Lee Although this was the first time Rangers have dropped points at Ibrox this season, it’s another setback in their campaign. They've now let 13 points slip across their opening 12 league matches and sit 11 points adrift of leaders Celtic. The match began with Černy and Nico Raskin forcing early saves from Jack Walton, while Nedim Bajrami’s curling effort was tipped wide by the United keeper. Dundee United were well-drilled and disciplined and gradually grew into the game. Vicko Sevelj’s pinpoint deep cross found Dalby unmarked, and the striker headed past the exposed Jack Butland to give the visitors a shock lead. It could have gone from bad to worse for Rangers when Dalby got into a promising shooting position, only for his low effort to be blocked by...

Bruno Fernandes the hero for Manchester United

Image
Manchester United 2 - 1 Rangers Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes delivered a dramatic stoppage-time winner to secure victory over Rangers in their all-British clash at Old Trafford. Author - Liam C Stadium - Old Trafford Rangers fans had barely finished celebrating what they thought was a late equaliser from Cyriel Dessers, whose superb 88th-minute strike found the bottom corner from the edge of the box. However, Fernandes quickly silenced the visiting supporters, latching onto Lisandro Martínez's pinpoint cross to the far post and driving a first-time shot through Jack Butland's legs. In the directors' box, legendary former United manager – and ex-Rangers striker – Sir Alex Ferguson could only shake his head at the thrilling finale. The dramatic conclusion ensured the match wouldn’t be remembered solely for Butland's unfortunate own goal. The Rangers goalkeeper attempted to punch away Christian Eriksen's corner in the 52nd minute but inadvertently sent...

Scotland: Celtic win at Livingston

Image
Livingston 1 - 3 Celtic Celtic convincingly overcame their Livingston to restore their three-point Scottish Premiership lead, says manager Ange Postecoglou. Captain Callum McGregor missed a penalty before Daizen Maeda headed in the opener from a disputed corner. A Nicky Devlin own goal and James Forrest's fine finish made it 3-0. Andrew Shinnie's close-range reply couldn't deny Celtic a first win at Livingston since 2007. The away support created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the game One Celtic fan told us: "It was a comfortable win. That was something that everyone needed. Onwards and upwards now!" Reaction Livingston manager David Martindale told the media: "I think Celtic were very good and very clinical. I don't think we deserved much more from the game, but with the two decisions leading to goals you feel a little hard done-by. Scotland: Celtic eventually ease to win over Dundee

Image
Dundee 0 - 3 Celtic Paulo Bernardo and Mikey Johnston emerged as the unexpected goal heroes for Celtic in their match against Dundee.  However, there is now a concern about Cameron Carter‑Vickers' injury ahead of the upcoming clash with Rangers at Parkhead on Saturday. Bernardo slotted in the opening goal in the 52nd minute at Dens Park, marking his inaugural goal for Celtic. Johnston, coming on as a substitute, netted his first two goals for the Hoops since December 2019, securing a 3-0 victory. Despite leading by five points, the champions face a challenge from Rangers, who have two games in hand, including their midweek match against Ross County at Ibrox on Wednesday. Manager Rodgers stuck with the same starting lineup from the 2-0 win against Livingston. Dundee, on the other hand, had Cammy Kerr in for the absent Ricki Lamie, and Zak Rudden returned as one of the two strikers. Celtic took control early on without breaking down Dundee's defence. Kyogo Furuhashi's ...

Powered by youtube embed code and låna pengar snabbt utan krav Highlights above courtesy of Premier Sports Amid increasing negativity surrounding the start of the Ibrox club's season, Philippe Clement's side fell behind to Andriy Yarmolenko's first-half opener. Similar to their goalless draw with Heart of Midlothian on Saturday, Rangers were both wasteful and occasionally vulnerable. However, Dessers' close-range finish with the final kick of the match rescued what could be a priceless result in Poland. The winners of this tie will face either RB Salzburg or FC Twente for a place in the 2024-25 Champions League, with the Austrians taking a 2-1 lead to the Netherlands. Scotland: Celtic move closer to another Treble

Image
Celtic 1 - 0 Rangers Celtic booked their place in the 2023 Scottish Cup final after a tense 1-0 win over Rangers. They will Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the first weekend of June as their hunt for another treble continues. Jota was the hero for the Hoops, heading home from inside the six-yard box just three minutes before half-time. A 50/50 split in the crowd meant, there was plenty of colour and noise on either side of Hampden Park. In the opening few minutes of the match, that incredible atmosphere carried on. The opening 10 minutes were a cagey affair. Celtic's backline had to deal with a raft of aerial balls forward, but once Celtic got a hold of the ball their possession and composure followed. Half-chances came and went for either side, but it was Allan McGregor that was the first to be tested on 27 minutes when Alistair Johnston let rip from 20 yards.  WHAT. AN. ATMOSPHERE. 😍 "One of the true great fixtures in the game we love so much...Glasgow does rivalry ...

The Israeli winger then turned provider for Reo Hatate, before his shot off a post fell to Kyogo Furuhashi to tap home Celtic's fourth, as they eased into the last four. Celtic extend lead at top of the table

Image
Celtic 4 - 0 Motherwell Celtic maintained their composure despite a shaky start to secure a commanding 4-0 victory over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. Author - Sean M Following a frustrating draw at Dundee United on Sunday, the league leaders took time to find their rhythm. The breakthrough came just before the half-time whistle when a collision between Aston Oxborough and Hyunjun Yang earned Celtic a penalty. Arne Engels coolly converted, slotting the ball into the bottom-left corner as the Motherwell goalkeeper dived the wrong way. Celtic had the better chances in the first half, with Daizen Maeda’s effort blocked by Oxborough. The Motherwell keeper also had a nervy moment when he nearly turned the ball into his own net, but managed to clear it with the help of his defence. Early in the second half, Celtic survived a scare when Tony Watt inadvertently blocked Tawanda Maswanhise’s shot on Kasper Schmeichel ’s goalline, deflecting it behind. The hosts doubled their lead so...

Hibs hold Rangers in six-goal epic

Image
Hibernian 3 - 3 Rangers Rangers' inconsistency was on full display once again as they squandered the lead twice against an in-form Hibernian, despite Hamza Igamane's stunning hat-trick in a thrilling six-goal Scottish Premiership showdown. Author - Mark Lee Ibrox boss Philippe Clement remained upbeat, insisting his team were on the right track after their superb Old Firm derby triumph. However, this marked their third consecutive away game without a win, raising further questions about their ability to sustain the high standards they displayed just days earlier. David Gray's Hibs, on the other hand, showed incredible resilience, battling back from two goals down. Rocky Bushiri’s late equaliser in the 83rd minute extended their unbeaten run to six matches, underscoring their impressive form. Under pressure for frequent squad rotations, Clement opted for a rare unchanged line-up in an attempt to steady the ship. The attacking quartet of Igamane, Vaclav Cerny, Nedim Bajra...

Scottish Premiership: All the Boxing Day action

Despite reduced crowds, there were plenty of goals on an action-packed Boxing Day in the Scottish Premiership. Two goals from Liel Abada's first-half double had the visitors in total command until Chris Kane halved the deficit. Nir Bitton eventually put the result beyond doubt when he scored a late third to send Celtic into the winter break six points adrift of leaders Rangers who won later in the day. Scottish League Cup: Rangers 1 - 3 Hibernian

Image
Martin Boyle's stunning first-half hat-trick booked Hibernian's place in the League Cup final against Celtic in front of new Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Boyle's three goals came in 29 crazy minutes. He first came after scooping in from a corner. He then smashed a fine finish and a penalty past Allan McGregor. Scott Arfield gave Rangers a small lifeline at the end of a brilliant half. The Scottish champions failed to test goalkeeper Matt Macey in a lacklustre second 45 minutes.  It turned out a miserable start to the post-Steven Gerrard era. Van Bronckhorst is expected to take control on Monday.  The Ibrox club have now progressed beyond the semi-final stage of the two cup competitions just once in their last nine attempts. They will be desperate to sort that out in the Scottish Cup. More Hibs reaction Hibernian posted this video after the match.
