Despite a lack of refinement at times, Michael Beale's side kept them alive ahead of the second leg in the Netherlands.

A tense Ibrox erupted with joy when Abdallah Sima shaped in a superb opener just before the interval. A hard-fought lead would not last for long, as Ibrahim Sangare scored on the hour following an outrageous stepover from Ismael Saibari.

More football news from across Scotland.

Rangers were back in front after substitute Rabbi Matondo smashed Cyriel Dessers' teasing delivery into the net.

Four minutes after that strike, Luuk de Jong diverted a towering header to ensure these sides will meet for a second leg in Eindhoven with both eyeing a place on the biggest stage.

What are people saying?

Ryaan, a PSV fan, told us: "You'd have to say that our performance was commendable.  However, the levels gradually waned. All in all, it aligned with my expectations."

Frank, another PSV fan, added: "I'm glad we don't have a game this weekend so we can prepare for next week. Qualifying for the Group Stages of the Champions League is very important for this club. It will give fans and players some amazing memories."

Danny, a Rangers fan, told us: "This was a decent performance but I fear this was our best opportunity to win this qualifying round. I don't think we can get a win away, especially after some of our poor performances this season."

This was the reaction from the Rangers manager.

Are you looking forward to this Champions League season?

Did you know that it's the 32nd season since the rebranding of the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. The grand showdown is scheduled to take place at London's Wembley Stadium.

The rebuilt Wembley Stadium will host its third UEFA Champions League final, following 2011 and 2013. Previous finals saw Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1 in 2011 and Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in 2013.
