Speculation around external interest had emerged earlier this year. The Ibrox club has now said that "productive conversations" are taking place, with a joint statement noting that the group is seeking a controlling stake in the Scottish side.
No timeline has been given for a potential agreement, though those familiar with the situation previously suggested that a deal could be finalised between April and June.
Among the key figures involved is Paraag Marathe, chairman of Leeds United and a leading executive behind 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the NFL franchise. He is understood to be playing a central role in the discussions.

Rangers' European campaign came to an end earlier this month with a 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League. Domestically, the team has just five league fixtures remaining, as arch-rivals Celtic close in on a 55th Scottish title and the possibility of a ninth domestic treble.

They have also announced that Kevin Thelwell will join the club as sporting director once his contract with Everton expires this summer.
Gers CEO Patrick Stewart has been working on this appointment since February and is moving forward with his plans for the 51-year-old, who joined Everton in 2022 after his time at New York Red Bulls.
Thelwell, who has previously worked at Wolves, Derby County, and Preston North End, confirmed in March that he would be leaving Everton at the end of his contract due to several structural changes at the club.
