English football ~ 24/25 run in - Championship | Burnley v Sheffield United

In a division famous for its unpredictability, this season has been no different. Momentum has shifted time and again, providing a campaign full of drama and unexpected twists.

Yet, with one round of fixtures remaining, much remains undecided. The title race, two play-off places, and one relegation spot are still up in the air. Twelve clubs, half the league, approach the final day with everything to play for.

We begin at the foot of the table, where the pressure is the most intense.

The relegation fight

English football ~ 24/25 run in - Championship | Stoke City v Sheffield United

Stoke City, Derby County, Preston North End, Luton Town and Hull City all go into their final matches needing something to secure safety. Plymouth Argyle, currently 23rd, are clinging to hope, but only a remarkable set of results can save them due to their inferior goal difference.

For Luton, Preston, Stoke and Derby, the task is straightforward. A win on the final day will guarantee survival. Hull must win and also rely on one of the teams above them to slip up. With Derby and Stoke facing each other, at least one will drop points, which could open the door for Hull.

Fans from clubs across thesee stadiums will be refreshing social media accounts as they wait for confirmation that they have survived.

The race to the play-offs and a fight for the title

English football ~ 24/25 run in - Championship | Leeds v Bristol City

Bristol City, Coventry City, Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough are all in a tense race to reach the play-offs.

The match to watch as a neutral might just be Coventry City v Middlesbrough. The away side will have to win at Coventry to stand any chance of finishing the season in the top 6. For Coventry and 5th place Bristol City, their destiny is very much in their hands.

Now for the fight for the Championship title. Leeds will be crowned champions if they match Burnley's result, unless both sides win and the Clarets somehow overturn a 13-goal deficit on goal difference, an outcome that remains highly improbable. These two sides have matched each other all season and could both finish the campaign on 100 points. A remarkable achievement.
