Second-half goals from Elliot Lee and Ryan Longman secured a 27th win of a remarkable season, one that has taken the north Wales club back to the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Phil Parkinson’s side finish on 92 points, a tally that also brought Lincoln’s long unbeaten home run, stretching back to February, to a close.
Michael Skubala’s team end the season in 11th place, 15 points clear of the relegation zone and 17 adrift of the play-offs. This has ultimately been a decent campaign for a side that was playing in Non League in recent memory.
While the result was of little consequence to the hosts, it once again underlined Wrexham’s credentials as they prepare for Championship football following a third successive promotion. Despite a subdued start, the visitors made the most of the chances they created and demonstrated once more the clinical edge that has defined their season.

Parkinson’s team have found success through a combination of timely quality in attack and resilience in defence, a formula that now sees them preparing for life in the second tier just two years after climbing out of non-league football.
A closer look at what happened and how it happened.
Lee, the only change from the side that clinched promotion against Charlton Athletic a week earlier, was fittingly the man to open the scoring. The midfielder was among those who had helped secure Wrexham’s first step back up the footballing pyramid, and he provided a timely breakthrough just when it was needed.
Wrexham’s slow start had given Lincoln cause for optimism, and the hosts may feel frustrated they failed to capitalise on a first half in which they looked the better side. The opening 45 minutes were largely uninspiring on the pitch, in contrast to the colour in the stands, particularly among the Wrexham supporters. With fancy dress in full force, including clowns, jockeys and the now-familiar sight of Deadpool, the away end embraced the occasion in full.
It was a far cry from 17 years earlier to the day, when Wrexham were relegated from the Football League at the same ground. That memory only served to heighten the sense of occasion for travelling fans, many of whom will remember the struggles that preceded this rise.
When the match got underway, it was Lincoln who looked the brighter in the first half. Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo had to be alert to deny efforts from James Gardner and Reeco Hackett, preserving parity at the break.
But after the interval, Wrexham found their rhythm. Lee broke the deadlock after 53 minutes, powering in a header from Longman’s cross following a sweeping move. It was a goal that lifted the visitors, and just over ten minutes later, they added a second. This time Longman was the finisher, slotting past the keeper after a clever through ball from James McClean.
Lincoln substitute Jack Moylan forced a save from Okonkwo at the near post in the closing stages, but Wrexham held firm to record a clean sheet and conclude a landmark season in style.
A season that began with ambitions of another promotion has ended in celebration, with a summer of Championship planning now ahead for the club’s Hollywood-backed project. This latest victory was not just a farewell to League One but another step in an extraordinary journey.
