Spain: Real Madrid are La Liga champions
Real Madrid are La Liga champions once again.
They wrapped up the title by defeating Cadiz 3-0 at the Bernabeu before they watched Barcelona lose 4-2 at Girona.
Ultimately, this has been an impressively dominant campaign for Carlo Ancelotti's men. They have lost just once all season, at local rivals Atletico Madrid in September, and are also unbeaten in their last 28 league games.
Against Cadiz, Brahim Diaz starred for Real Madrid. The former Manchester City winger scored an impressive goal by firing into the top corner from just inside the box in the 51st minute. S few minutes later, Jude Bellingham doubled Real's lead by ghosting into the box and poking home from close range.
Joselu then sealed a comfortable victory in added time with a tap-in. Nacho raced through into the box and squared the ball for his teammate to finish with ease. Another excellent performance. When the match finished, they were only a few hours away from being champions officially.
You can watch their most recent by watching the video below. The footage is from the La Liga EA Sports YouTube account.
The impact of Jude Bellingham
Hey Jude! The former Birmingham City midfielder scored on his Real Madrid debut, netted a late winner on his home debut. He scored an injury-time winner in El Clasicos on two occasions and he is the undoubted La Liga player of this campaign.
Joseph, a Real Madrid fan, told us: "Bellingham has been amazing for us. I knew he was a good player when he signed for us. Just didn't realise he was this good. I am looking forward to seeing how his career develops with Real Madrid."
You'd have to wonder if he could finish the season as a double European champion for club and country.
What's happened to Barcelona?
Barca's defeat to Girona probably summed up their season. Despite their opposition performing well, this was a match they should have won. They certainly have a big summer on their hands if they are to reach the summit of Spanish and European football again in the near future.
The win for Girona means they have qualified for the Champions League. Despite criticism of their ownership model (they are part of the City Football Group) almost everyone would argue that they deserve for this due to the way they play.
