Liverpool 0 - 1 Real Madrid Liverpool's bid to claim the Champions League trophy for the seventh time ended in disappointment as Real Madrid won in Paris. Jurgen Klopp's side were thwarted by Thibaut Courtois. The former Chelsea keeper produced one of the great individual performances to stopLiverpool time and again. Mohamed Salah was denied six times by Courtois who was simply unbeatable. The shortlist for Ballon d'Or 2022  has been announced, and there have been some interesting developments. Let's take a look at some of the talking points. No Messi and Neymar! Lionel Messi and Neymar have not been included on the 30-man shortlist for the 2022 Ballon d'Or. The Argentina international has won the most Ballons d'Or in history with seven, but he did not make the list despite scoring 11 goals in 34 matches for Paris Saint-Germain last season. His team-mate Neymar is also not on the list. He played just 28 times for PSG last season in an injury-hit campaign. Kylian Mbappe does make the list. Recognition for the Lionesses  England's Euro 2022 success has been recognised. Real Madrid signs Chelsea goalkeeper on season-long loan Real Madrid have announced the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a season-long loan. He will cover for Madrid's regular number one Thibaut Courtois, whose anterior cruciate ligament injury will keep him out of the league for the majority of the season. As a Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa has made 163 appearances since joining from Athletic Bilbao for £71m in August 2018. Real Madrid started their season with a 2-0 win over Athletic Club. West Ham United sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has joined West Ham United from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £30 million. The home side had plenty of chances, with Marc Cucurella superbly denied by Thibaut Courtois in the closing stages of a positive first half as far as the hopeful hosts were concerned. However, it felt like only a matter of time before Carlo Ancelotti's side punished the Blues and in the 57th minute they did, as Rodrygo finished off a ruthless attack.
