The England midfielder brought Madrid level just before half-time, expertly heading Rodrygo's delicate chip into the far corner for his seventh goal of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, missing the injured Kylian Mbappé, endured a shaky start at the Estadio de Vallecas. They fell behind after just five minutes when Unai Lopez nodded Jorge de Frutos’ cross past Thibaut Courtois. The hosts doubled their lead nine minutes before the break through Abdul Mumin’s towering header.

Federico Valverde sparked Madrid’s fightback with a stunning long-range strike, and moments later, Bellingham levelled the scoreline. The 21-year-old has now scored in seven of Madrid’s last eight games and became the first player to score in six consecutive La Liga matches for the club since Karim Benzema in 2016.

Madrid took the lead early in the second half when Rodrygo fired in a thunderous effort from the edge of the box. However, Rayo refused to back down, and Isi Palazon’s deft touch turned Florian Lejeune’s long-range strike into the net, leaving Courtois wrong-footed.

Second-half substitute Vinícius Júnior almost snatched victory for Madrid in the dying minutes, but his powerful drive was brilliantly tipped over by Augusto Batalla.

Madrid remain second in La Liga, one point behind leaders Barcelona, who could extend their advantage to four points with a win over struggling Leganés on Sunday.
