UCL: Real Madrid win Champions League
Liverpool 0 - 1 Real Madrid
Liverpool's bid to claim the Champions League trophy for the seventh time ended in disappointment as Real Madrid won in Paris.
Jurgen Klopp's side were thwarted by Thibaut Courtois. The former Chelsea keeper produced one of the great individual performances to stopLiverpool time and again.
Mohamed Salah was denied six times by Courtois who was simply unbeatable.
Real were always a threat and the decisive moment came after 59 minutes when Vinicius stole in unmarked at the far post to score.
The victory also sees Carlo Ancelotti make history by becoming the first coach to win a fourth Champions League title.
Some of the best reaction
The Liverpool boss spoke about the result and his side's performance: "After the game when I saw the stats it was 50-50 possession. We had a lot more shots, a lot more shots on target, but the most decisive stat is absolutely on Madrid’s side. Just to make sure that nobody thinks I wouldn’t congratulate Real Madrid, I do that now but I [also] congratulated everybody present and involved outside personally.
"They scored a goal, we didn’t, that’s the easiest explanation in the world of football and it’s hard, harsh to get anyway, [but we] respect that of course. When the goalkeeper is Man of the Match then something is going wrong for the other team, so we had I think three really big chances where Courtois made incredible saves. I would have loved to have had a few more of this calibre."
Real Madrid's David Alaba tweeted: "These are the dreams inside me that I always have on my path, that I always fight for and believe in. Another one has come true. "

Final marred by chaotic scenes
The final was marred by horrible scenes outside the Stade de France. Thousands of Liverpool fans were unable to get into the stadium, forcing the kick-off to be delayed by more than 30 minutes. Others were targeted with pepper spray.
This video from Sky Sports shows some of these chaotic scenes.
Liverpool released this statement.
We are hugely disappointed at the stadium entry issues and breakdown of the security perimeter that Liverpool fans faced this evening at Stade de France.
This is the greatest match in European football and supporters should not have to experience the scenes we have witnessed tonight.
We have officially requested a formal investigation into the causes of these unacceptable issues.
